2000 Fiat Bravo HGT 2.0 5 cylinder from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Unsung Hero!

Faults:

Touch wood... only minor faults to date:

Driver's seat base broke at 12,000 miles - fixed under warranty.

Rattle from driver's door at at 12,000 miles - fixed under warranty.

Front tyres needed replacing at 13,000 miles, but the rears are still original.

Boot light switch failed at 18,000 miles - will be fixed under warranty when part in stock.

Weather strips on roof now coming away - DIY job to fit new ones.

General Comments:

I love the sound of the free-revving engine so much that I rarely have the stereo on!

The performance IS there, but it does need to be in the right gear and revs.

The car is commendably rattle-free even on bumpy roads and handles very well, with none of the usual nose-heavy understeer of powerful front wheel drive cars.

The brakes are superb.

The ride comfort is fine on most roads, but on poor surfaces it can jar a bit.

So far, the car is very easy to live with, with loads of user-friendly touches.

If only this engine was available in a rear wheel drive Barchetta with the steering wheel on the right side!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

2000 Fiat Bravo HGT 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Looks good, but I fear there is a Panda under the bonnet

Faults:

The alarm did not work properly. After alarming the car I could return one hour later and find the car open, which is not good news. The alarm would go off while I was in the car and refuse to go off.

The fuel injection system failed making the car un-driveable.

The car has rust.

General Comments:

Dealers were less than helpful. If they were not treating me like a child or an imbecile, they simply would not return my calls. Dealerships are by far the worst I have ever come across, they are unhelpful and uninterested. They lost appointments, cancelled appointments with no notice, and no one will take responsibility once you actually get through to talk to someone.

The car is not even one year old and I am contemplating selling it.

I have similar poor experiences with my HGT and also with the local Fiat dealership. You are right they do not return calls and will not take responsibility. The cam-belt on my HGT snapped at 30,000 miles and I put it into the dealer for repair. Eventually managed to get the warranty company to pay. Last week I was promised the car back today. I told the individual that I spoke to that my wife was heavily pregnant and so I would need the car back as soon as possible. I also said that they should call me if they knew the car would not be ready by today. Surprise surprise no phone call and the cars is not ready. No one there cares. Wife has given birth now... had to get her to hospital in a taxi!

I will never buy a Fiat again!!

Hi steven I am sorry to here of all the hassle the car has given you, I am a mechanic for a fiat dealership and I would strongly recommend you get in touch with fiat headquarters.. ask at local dealership. that sort of service is not acceptable!!!

2000 Fiat Bravo SX 1.2 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great looking if somewhat tempremental

Faults:

Extensive brake dust from front wheels.

Engine cuts out intermittently when starting (automatic choke goes up to 2500 revs then drops to zero).

The car currently has 500 miles on the clock and I'm hoping I don't get any more problems.

General Comments:

Very stylish looking car.

Car is nippy and handling is sharp and responsive.

Not what you'd describe as a powerful car but with high revs it sounds like a beast.

Very good car, very stylish interior and exterior, the car is pure genius the way it was designed. In aerodynamic performance when on the road she tenders to grip to the road very well without any major understeer or oversteer when at high speeds. Definitely a winner in my book.. Fiat Bravo 2001 SX.

This is one nippy car with good acceleration.

Overall verdict: Very sexy car with a nice engine and very reliable 9/10.
