Until recently I knew nothing about this car. I just bought one about 5 months ago. The car runs well and it feels that it has a good engine. Down the hill the can make 100 mph if you are willing to take the risk. Up the hill, it can make at most 65 mph. When 2nd gear is needed the car takes a new form. It appears as if the car is alive. It does say no to any row in California. I like the litle car. It is very economical. It gives me 45 per every $10.00. at $2.75 per gallon. I wish it looked more like a sport car. The car looks more like a cartoonish car for Mr. Magoo. I hate its looks. But if it wasn't for this little car, I could be putting 200 mile a day to my new Mercedes.

1997 Ford Aspire 2dr hatch 1.3 from North America

Summary:

Wouldn't trade it for the world!!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with my car. The only thing I have put into it is the general maintenance. You know like tune-ups. Which I do all by myself. It has NEVER been in the shop.

General Comments:

In the years I have had my car, I can't complain at all. It is a very economical car. I love it. It's one of the best cars I have ever owned. Granted it doesn't go like a graped ape, but I don't need speed. Yes if you go over 70 miles an hour on the highway the motor will wind out. But if you treat it right and take care of it, it will treat you right. I could ask for a better car. And I wouldn't trade it for the world. My car goes back and forth from New York to North Carolina quite frequently, and has never given me any bit of problem. It has never stranded me either. Granted at first the steering took a bit of getting used to, since I am use to power steering. But being that it is so small you don't need power steering...

It's great.

1997 Ford Aspire 1.3 from North America

Summary:

Cheap car, reliable

Faults:

Door lock broke.

Tires realigned and balanced after skidding going 85 mph.

New front brake pads at 120,000 miles.

Idles rough and gets 30 miles to the gallon. I think it might need a new fuel injector or pump.

Check engine light is faulty, been on for a year. I fixed everything that it said was wrong, but it stayed on.

Manual shifter is lose, comes out of gear without clutch (speed shift from 3-4 gear).

Never had any engine repair or problems.

General Comments:

It has some go, just have to get used to the horse power. I can keep up in the 80's on the interstate. Uphill grade of 40% can stay at a pace of about 45 mph.

1997 Ford Aspire 2 doors 1.3 from North America

Summary:

Best student car, reliable, economical

Faults:

Changed CV boots and axles as soon as I bought it, the boots were torn.

General Comments:

I bought the car in April '02 and have put about 15000 miles in the last 6-7 months. The car has been very reliable. Have had no major problems yet.

I drive a lot back and forth from Los Angeles, CA to Phoenix, AZ (400 miles one way)

Has great gas mileage.

Extremely cold A/C.

Slow to accelerate, but one can live with that considering how much you pay for gas.

Can be pretty noisy at highway speed.

With almost 80000 miles, it burn no oil and runs strong.

Has no resale value.

Best buy for a student.
