2005 Ford Crown Victoria PI review from North America
"The closest thing to the LT1 yet"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Needed front bumper replaced from ramming a car in a pursuit.
Already replaced brake pads once and tires once.
Needed a new radiator, not bad just damaged from a pursuit.
General comments?
First off I'd like to say that I am a police officer in a mid sized town in ohio a 17 year veteran.
I like the 05' Crown Vic PI it is a little more powerful than the last crown vic I had.
In 1999 when I got my last crown vic I hated it so much, that I got rid of it and got a 1996 caprice LT1 which is still the best police car ever built.
But then it got old and in 01' I got an interceptor which was much better that the 99.
The new 2005 Interceptor is pretty fast it handles pretty good, and isn't too bad on snow (with the proper tires)
It will lay a pretty good line of rubber when you punch it.
I only get about 14 mpg the way I drive it.
One thing that it is really good in is interior size/comfort, I can easily fall asleep in the car.
2 years ago we tested the impala police cars and bough 4 of them, they have all been sold because they fall apart.
I would have to say that the 05' CVPI is the closest thing to the caprice LT1 yet and we do still have 2 LT1's on the force, but my crown victoria is good enough to pursue the bad guys.
