There have been two recalls, relatively minor. One was to replace a cable in the transmission, and the other to tighten and replace the lugnuts, both done in less than 15 minutes.
This SUV is reliable, pretty and is fun to drive. You recieve a lot of enviable stares, constant comments and everyone on the road excluding Semi's moves out of your way. With the Trailer tow package you get huge tires that look like they could drive right over other other cars. Although super expensive to buy, if you lease for a term of 2 years, payments are low due to the high residule on the car. My lease payments are lower than a previous $21,000 Windstar that I had even though the Expedition's price was nearer to $40,000.
Listen to this guy and lease... I will invest in Ford and buy a Chev.
Had several problems with the expedition I purchased. Replaced electronic coils for a cost of approximately $375.00 each. I spoke with the service manager and he stated they had problems with them and would have to eventually replace all of them. Front sway bars needed to be reattached. Rear pinion seal had to be replaced twice. Vacuum pumps to allow vehicle to stay in 4 wheel drive needed replacement. Stuck in snow when this happened. Window noise at high speeds, Ford says this is normal. Plenty of room and tows exceptionally well.
