1987 Ford F150 Straight 6, 300ci from North America

Summary:

What ever you throw at this truck, it will get the job done

Faults:

The only major thing that has gone wrong with my truck is a small leak from the rear main seal. I have tried replacing the seal, only to find out that it still leaks.

Now, time is starting to show her true self on my truck. The paint is wearing down, so is the drivers side seat. The wipers don't work, and sometimes when I turn the horn gets stuck. Most of the problems are small cosmetic things.

General Comments:

I love my Ford, it has taken me around the country for a trip I will never forget. This is one tough work truck and I plan to restore my baby and go for the 1 million mile mark.

1987 Ford F150 Inline six from North America

Summary:

Affordable Rust Bucket

Faults:

Windshield Replaced.

Rusting Badly/ Gastank leaks.

General Comments:

I enjoy driving my truck, but I used to have a Ranger to get me from home and school; long story short, my brother now drives it because he needed something with less miles and more reliable to get to work and I just needed basic transportation.

I have to say this truck is bullet proof, but is a dog. It has a hard time getting to freeway speeds in overdrive. I had the carb rebuilt and replaced the clutch, but it still runs better in third gear than in overdrive.

The Rust on this truck has been described to me as cancerous by a friend.

This is a good work truck, but lousy for long trips, hopefully it will last to 200,000 miles and then I will be out of college and buying a new truck.

I wish either gas was cheaper or that my truck would not get the 15 miles per gallon it gets and get the 21 that my ranger used to.

1987 Ford F150 regular 5.0 from North America

Summary:

A strong, dependable, fun, truck

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong with this truck is that the heater core began leaking this past summer.

General Comments:

It's a great truck. I've ripped on it quite a bit. I love the 302 but it does take the gas. I've wrecked it once and just broke a headlight. I hit a deer at 50 mph, and all that happened was the grille fell off and the headlights broke.

I've hauled over 15 tons of gravel in it and the suspension is still ok, but does sag a little. It has never broke down on me. The body does have some rust on it.

1987 Ford F150 XLT Lariat Supercab 5.8 liter V8 from North America

Summary:

Best vehicle I've owned to date!

Faults:

Very little actually. Routine maintenance mostly.

Rebuilt the carburetor every few years. With a Holly 4 barrel, that's routine anyway!

Over the years, I replaced: starter, alternator, water pump, wiper motor, window motor, tie rods.

Nothing was done TWICE and I credit that to using ONLY factory parts, no aftermarket.

Rear main seal replaced 2001.

General Comments:

Great truck.

Comfortable ride & seating.

Plenty of power, even after all these years.

Fuel mileage was atrocious. of course, but that goes with the territory!

Honestly can't think of one BAD thing to say. I suppose that says a lot in itself...

I am the owner of the 1982 F-150 XLT with many parts replaced at least twice, but keep in mind, it looks and runs like new and has nearly 400,000 miles on it now. No oil spots on my driveway thanks to two gasket changes over the years :-)

1987 Ford F150 4.9L Straight 6 from North America

Summary:

Great reliable truck

Faults:

Not much has gone wrong with this truck. The clutch cable has broken 4 times, but the clutch itself only two times. Everything else fixed has been regular wear and tear.

General Comments:

This is a great truck. It has been indestructible. The 6 cylinder has enough power to pull things in first gear. The 4 speed is a must if any work will be done with it. It drives like a tank on the road, but after all it is a truck. It has been wrecked 3 times and I've never been hurt and it has always kept on running.
