1999 Ford F150 Lariat 4.6 SOHC from North America

Summary:

Built to last, without a doubt.

Faults:

There have been NO problems with my truck at all. Hard to believe, but it is true. The only thing I have done is put new spark plugs in it at 113,000 miles, and I also got new spark plug wires. This has been an outstanding truck.

General Comments:

This truck is very comfortable, and has got to be one of the most reliable vehicles on the road. Of course, it has not been driven very hard, and does not have 4X4, but rarely do you find a vehicle with 115,000 miles with NO problems, ever.

Thank you for the information on your 1999 Ford F150. I have recently purchased a used unit and after only two thousand miles under my belt I am impressed with the ride and the way it handles even for a 4x4. I have added a few extras to dress it up a bit.

1999 Ford F150 XL 4.2 V6 from North America

Summary:

A cheap dependable new vehicle

Faults:

The was a hairline crack in the driver's door by the window and B-pillar. Ford repaired under warranty. The problem seems to stem from closing the window too tightly.

The 5 speed tranny is getting harder to shift. This seems to be the result of either trying to shift too quickly or sloppy shifting.

The battery went dead after 4 years. Replace by aftermarket one.

A small squeak from the rear going over bumps. This may be the tail gate.

General Comments:

Very dependable. The engine has enough power.

The handling is very vague and the steering is sloppy. This is probably because I am used to sports cars like my last car the BMW or my other car the Mazda RX-7, but that is why I have the RX-7 :^).

I have the same issue. I drive a lowered BMW M3, and it takes some getting used to in order to not roll the truck over.

1999 Ford F150 XLT 4.2L V6 from North America

Summary:

A great vehicle

Faults:

Door Ajar light stays on after all doors are shut & even stays on while driving for a couple of minutes.

Molding on the passenger side rear glass is split and leaks when it rains.

Cable that holds spare tire under the bed broke and I lost the spare in the middle of the road, somewhere in Oklahoma.

Power window switch on the passenger side broke and will only roll window down, I can roll it up from the drivers side.

Door locks do not properly work due to the broken actuator on the passenger side, I manually lock and unlock the vehicle.

Heat core went out at 92,000 miles and it had to be replaced, the entire dash had to come out to accomplish this and it cost a little over $300.

General Comments:

I would definitely purchase another Ford F-150. Considering the extensive driving that I do and the loads that I sometimes carry it has been a very reliable and efficient vehicle. The things listed above that have gone wrong are relatively minor and most are normal wear and tear problems that occur in vehicles with as many miles as my pickup has on it. This is a vehicle that I recommend to everyone and I will own another in due time.
