2004 Ford Galaxy Zetec 1.9 TDI turbo diesel from UK and Ireland
Too many electrical problems
Seats are badly worn, and 3rd row seat is firmly stuck; there's no moving it.
Front heater will not come on, don't know why. Lights come on for it, but no blower. Back heater works fine.
Car drives and sounds great one day, then sounds and drives like a tractor the next - very unpredictable.
Also thermostat reads cold or middle uncontrollably; just changes whenever it sees fit for no apparent reason. Had it changed, but still does the same thing.
Lights as in dash and headlights start dimming while driving sometimes; have no idea why; it's like a power surge or something.
All in all, the car would actually be great and a comfortable drive if Ford sorted these problems out, considering everywhere I turn, there seems to be problems with the heating and air con; very strange.

2004 Ford Galaxy Zetec 1.9 TDI from UK and Ireland
Excessive smoking from auxiliary diesel pre-heater on cold days.
On the whole a very reliable family car.
Comfortable with plenty of room for seven people, even on long journeys.
Air conditioning in a real boost especially on foreign holiday to France in a heatwave!
Only drawback is excessive smoking from the diesel pre-heater at the rear of the car which sees us disappearing under clouds of smoke on cold mornings until the pre-heater switches off. We also had this problem with our previous Galaxy and Ford never managed to fix it.
Has anyone else experienced this. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

If its smoking like that - then its possible you need a new glow plug, in the aux heater.
It should not smoke like your description lol.

I also have a 2003 Galaxy Ghia 1.9 turbo diesel. Excessive smoke from auxiliary heater after 25K miles. Quoted 500euros for replacement plus labour. Will I have problems if it is just disconnected? Steve at "email@example.com"
