I second that notion... Too much technology makes for a lazy driver. Do we really need the car to tell us there is something in the way? If so, then it is time to turn in your license and take the bus. Seriously, this crap just adds $ thousands needlessly to the MSRP of the car. I like the Taurus, but would opt for a lower end model without those stupid gadgets on it.

"I tested this by stopping and shutting the engine off, and restarting, thus rebooting the cruise control chip. In this way I can immediately use cruise again. If left to its own devices, this could take up to 4 minutes."

Guess what? When I hit the CANCEL button or the brakes on my car, my cruise control shuts off as well! You know what's weird though? All I have to do is hit RESUME to go back to my set speed instead of pulling over, shutting off the car and then restarting it to get it to work the way I want it too. This great new technology can be found on most '96 Corolla's (that's what I drive), and the only downside is you actually have to pay attention to the road!

I agree with the cruise control on curvy roads, but in straight line traffic the adaptable cruise control on my Taurus SHO performed flawlessly.

I was just about to buy a used SHO until I read your review about the cruise control. I absolutely hate all the hi-tech electronics they are cramming down our throats these days. K.I.S.S., Keep It Simple Stupid is the old term that seems to be lost now days. My wife has a 2018 Taurus we bought new, but it doesn't have all the gizmos yours seems to have. We absolutely love it and I love performance cars so I figured the SHO would be a good choice for me, but I guess not.
