1991 Ford Tempo GL 2.3 from North America

Summary:

I'm very happy with it so far

Faults:

The seat belts are working pretty bad.

The car has been hit in the front, right side and it's fragile, I think I'll have to do some little repairs there.

Because of the accident the engine is missing a kind of bottle that keeps the cooling liquid near the radiator.

The shocks need to be changed.

General Comments:

The engines car is very impressive, it's not eating a bit of oil at 174,000 km.

1991 Ford Tempo from North America

Summary:

Handles great

Faults:

I have a problem with the automatic seat belts sticking and not hooking.

The alternator went out.

It stalls every once in a while when idling.

General Comments:

This is my first car and I love it. I am disappointed that there are no cup holders in it though. It is a very comfortable vehicle and I would recommend it to anyone.

1991 Ford Tempo GL 4 cyl from North America

Summary:

Good second car

Faults:

Alternator.

Power steering pump.

Right CV boot.

Rear struts need replacing.

General Comments:

The car was well cared for by the previous owner. A lot has gone wrong with it since I bought it but I am hoping it is just bad timing.

Car heater warms up fast. Air conditioner does not cool down car all that much.

1991 Ford Tempo GL 2 speed from North America

Summary:

For the price, a steal!

Faults:

Well let's see. It has this annoying problem of stalling when you are waiting at lights, or have just started it first thing of the day. The company can never figure out what is wrong. Overall, I am very happy with it.

General Comments:

This car is on loan from a family member, who did not use it much. That's why it is in such good condition and has such low mileage. Other than regular age and abuse from not being used, its great.

I did not like the lack of cup holders, but with gas at 1.60 these days, I do like the fuel economy.

It heats up nicely, but the AC is weak, and the old stuff is hard to find to fill her up. I am very comfortable in the seats, and I think for its original price it was a steal. I hope to have many fond memories with this great car.

Before I saw this comment I have thought my 91 Ford Tempo stalled frequently just because of its age. Actually I have the same problem and I believe this is a design bug. (when you are waiting at lights, or have just started it first thing of the day).

Yong.

1991 Ford Tempo GL 2.3 from North America

Faults:

Starter x two, alternator x two, and usual hoses, cables and belts with age.

General Comments:

Overall I enjoyed this car and rank it #2 in overall reliability and economy of any of the 8 vehicles I have owned (only my 1970 Chevy pickup I felt to be better overall).

If the vehicle did not have all the power accessories that the GL had I might have been less satisfied with this car. However, as equipped I was quite satisfied with value received.
