I have a 2002 Windstar and the alternator went bad at 37,000 miles, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. The worst part was that Ford had no parts available to buy... the dealer had to contact a dealer in another state to get a part... why is that? Are they all sold out because so many have broken? How can Ford not be making parts for a vehicle that is only 2 years old and after all, an alternator is a common part for them to carry... I had to wait a month to get my van back and had to pay the freight to ship the part. And it's bad on gas... my caravan is filled once a week with 20 dollars of gas and the windstar takes about 30-40 dollars a week to get me to work and back. It's a nice van... but I am a little concerned about this past experience.

2002 Windstar... a piece of junk! I've had mine since May 05. I've put in 3 wheel bearings on the passenger side and 2 on the drivers side. Replaced the stabilizers twice. Can't go through any kind of water without the engine light coming on... then it sputters and has no pick up till it DRIES out again. I've always had Fords... I think it's time to change. This was the most disappointing vehicle I've ever owned. Wake up FORD... No wonder you aren't selling very many cars. We did put on new wires and plugs as the code said. It didn't solve the engine light and sputtering problem. Maybe this would go away if I lived in a dry climate !!!

I have a 2002 Windstar and it is by far the best vehicle we've ever owned! It drives amazingly and smooth, we are so happy with it we're going to keep it for a long time. I am sorry to those having problems, but I guess it's like any vehicle manufacturer, there are pros and sometimes cons!
