2004 Holden Commodore VY SS Wagon 5.7 V8 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Sporty family wagon

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The SS wagon is great for the family that would like to have a sporty car.

Great acceleration and handles well.

The engine likes the open highway, but doesn't like going slow around town.

The VY ss Wagon is an awesome car. You see many replicas around, but the original ones are the real deal. I reckon it's the best wagon around. It has the looks, the power and it's very comfortable to drive.

I've got a VY 04 S 2 black 6 speed SS wagon. Work includes extractors, cold air intake upgrade, 2 1/2 s/steel sport exhaust from manifold back, HSV lowered with Clubsport rims. Bill Lee did engine re-map / upgrade, and now produces 287 kw at the fly and 225 at the rear. By far the best car I've ever had, and loves the open road. Cheers.

2004 Holden Commodore VYII S pack 3.8 supercharged from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

An underrated family sedan

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This car is awesome it looks good and it goes awesome. Fuel economy is excellent to and has enough power on tap.

I find the car to be very roomy and comfortable to drive. The wife and kids enjoy the car and so do I. It looks mean with 18" alloy wheels and has plenty of useful features.

Enjoy your car, mate.

It's a shame you bought the supercharged V6 this year. Months after buying your car, there's now a new alloy V6 for the performance 6 cylinder (SV6) which - without resorting to supercharging - has around 20kw more power (190kw).

And for those considering the new 250kw SS V8, theres news that a (near) 300kw version is just around the corner (almost as much as the current HSV flagship - which costs twice as much!).

Wonder what this will do to used residuals of older commodores (and HSVs)?

Is Holden and Ford trying to emulate the power wars between AMG and BMW?
