I have had a VZ Commodore for 5 years, I have traveled 154,000 kilometers around Australia and Tasmania, as well as trips to Queensland, out west NSW, and I have never had an issue with the car. I am at the moment having a service done on the vehicle, I will be leaving NSW to drive to Cairn for the winter next Monday, I have all the confidence in the world in Holdens..

2005 CX8 Adventra.

226,000K, 50,000 since October.

I threw LPG in it at 200K.

I.. um.. have spent on maintenance... an um.. Oh.. Radiator cap!

I need a new steering rack (AWD fault) and a new cup holder as the little rubber lock bit broke... oh and the volume up button on the steering wheel.

So I guess I can truly say that these are great! I'd buy another. The Mrs. HSV Enhanced VT Calais isn't faring so well, but I put that down to lack of caring before I was around.

I am on my 11th Holden, and rate my VZ Addy the best, my VL second, VP 3rd.. etc.. I have a CV8 as well, but can't comment as it is my garage queen.

I have an Dec 04 Acclaim (yes they do exist).

I recently bought a new battery, and had a 75k service (now has 83k on the clock).

It does not want to start on random occasions (about 10% of the time).

Just turns over, but no kick. If I let it do diagnostics first, it comes up with "service vehicle soon", and won't turn over at all, despite me taking it back twice and getting told "seems fine to me". The message gets reset, and the problem comes back within a few days. Pulling my hair out!

Other that that, it's been a great car.

Something to do with the computer???

I also used to have problems starting the car and getting random errors, mechanics said they had no idea. I bought a new battery and 90% of the errors are now gone. Once a year maybe now it won't start and the speedo needle will be bouncing up and down without the engine running.

Otherwise, awesome car.

Yer mate, it may have the sports pack in it.. Just take it to Peder's to look at it all. It will only cost you about $20.. Hope that helps.. Cheers for now.

Mine has just started to sound like a tractor. This is truly the worst engine ever built. I've had Commodores from VB upwards. My VL and VS were both great to me, and the VS is still going with 350k on it, and most of them were my P plate Ks. Stay away from the VZ, it's a dud! Does anyone know what the tractor noise is in the Alloytec? Thanks.

I have the same problem with my VZ Commodore not starting sometimes with the speedo needle just going up, then down again, and the car won't start. Like yourself, the garage didn't know how to fix the problem. Did you manage to find out what is causing this?

Commodore quality in build and design is truly answered in one statement.. What total self respecting designer or car company would put a thermostat behind the gearbox, so that it is a $1000 to replace? Not Ford... Not Subaru.. just Holden.

I have a thud in the rear end like you had. You say they replaced the axles. Is this right? And what exactly did they do? Was it expensive?
