I have a 2001- Honda Civic EX, I have a lot of the same problems. the seat rocks back and forth. the switch for my lights went out. that was a recall. this past weekend the transmidion went out. I had no idea that anything was wrong. I was a a stop sign and all of a sudden my car wouldn't go into any gear. I do have a lot of miles on it, but that's why I bought a Honda because I thought it was a good car that would last.

I purchased my 2001 Honda Civic EX from the dealership in October of 2001. It was a test driving car so it had a little over 5,000 miles on it. It's been one of the best cars that I have had except for a few small things.

1. The small storage compartment above the radio has a broken hinge that broke a few months after I bought it.

2. The driver's side window wouldn't roll down all the time. I took it into the dealership three times and each time I was told that they couldn't see anything wrong. It turns out the window switch would get stuck in the up position and I just had to hold the switch down until it would finally roll down.

3. The backseat dome light does not work correctly.

4. It's a bit difficult to pull the entire backseat down in order to extend the trunk.

5. When I drive with my A/C on it randomly whistles.

6. The front passenger side of the car vibrates. My next appointment is to have the car re-aligned. I've already had my tires rotated, and that seemed to actually make it worse.

I've had the car for almost five years and the above are the only things I've had a problem with. I love my Honda.

I too agree. I own a 2001 Civic Ex. Purchased it with 60,000 miles on it. Did a car fax, everything came back squeaky clean. Car drove perfectly for the first 10,000 miles I had. Now at 72,000 miles, I'm told my steering pump is to blame for the loud groaning noise when I turn my wheel, my brakes just got done about 3 months ago. I had to replace the rotors and pads. Cost me about 300.00 in all. Now, my steering wheel shakes like crazy when I brake on the freeway, my AC works, but not unless its on full blast. I haven't had any problems with the water leaking or seats sliding, but I do have a lot of interior noise and rattling. I am not impressed by Honda. I chose this car because I though it would last long. Wishful thinking maybe.

I have about 85,000 miles on my 2001 EX. I use to drive Fords and Cheverolets, but for now I'm hooked on Honda. It is economical at about 30 mpg in the city, and the only repairs have been replacing a headlight bulb and some window molding that started to lose paint. The engine is peppy for passing on the freeway, but there is road noise that is probably inevitable in anything but a luxury car. Also, the car suspension floats a little on undulating roads.

Pros: fuel economy; peppy engine; low maintenance; key-less entry; 6-speaker stereo; sporty design.

Cons: road noise and interior squeaks; floaty suspension; large turn radius.

Just wanted to say I have a 2001 Civic Coupe with 60,000 miles.

The gas gage has been driving me crazy, and it's so nice to know others have this problem because the dealership likes to tell me nothing is wrong with it, and it has been making me feel like I'm actually crazy.

The repairman did admit that my gas light goes on with 4 gallons left in the tank, but explains this as normal and that it is a warning that I will need to get gas soon... in another 100 miles. Not a very helpful gas light. He suggested that I just calculate the miles, which I have been doing, but which is very annoying and why I brought the car in to be fixed in the first place... I miscalculated once and ran out of gas on the highway in the middle of nowhere.

When filling the tank, the automatic filler shuts off when 3 to 4 more gallons can fit into the tank, I know this because I have held the nozzle outside to fill it just to see because it seemed as though the tank wasn't filling all the way. The dealership says this is normal too.

My car also vibrates on the passenger side. But other than that it runs pretty well.

It sounds like it could be your front brake rotors need to be resurfaced, or they may be warped and may need to be replaced with new rotors.
