1999 Hyundai Accent LS review from Greece
"An absolute disgrace."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New clutch at 70,000km.
Recently changed parts include rear bearing, front CV joint, front shocks, battery and the regular serviceable items (brake pads, oil, filters, etc.)
Quality of plastics and interior trim very poor - both rear door handles have broken, sun visor clip broke off in my hands, seat fabric tore very easily, repeated rattling noises from within the dashboard, and too many more to go on listing... and all with normal use, not abuse.
Central locking on passenger door doesn't always work.
Driver's side window doesn't close properly.
Has recently developed a mysterious knocking noise whilst turning right.
General comments?
This is the worst car I have ever owned.
I bought this car as a temporary replacement after my previous car was written off in an accident, and has given me nothing but grief from the very first day of ownership.
Do not be tempted by the cheap price - you will more than pay over the amount saved in service, parts and labor in the long run.
Not to mention its Euro NCAP rating - one of the worst.
Buying this car has been a huge mistake and a spectacular disappointment. I will never ever buy another Hyundai. Period.
