"It is a very good car and is is cheaper than other similar cars"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

There is only one bad thing, the power windows switch. I have changed twice, this means that one of the wrongs parts of this cars is the electronic system. Besides this my car is excellent.

General comments?

I am from Costa Rica. It is an excellent car, for the off-road ways in Costa Rica, in mountain, rivers and natural forest. The car is very strong. The power of this 4x4 is good for every place you need it. It is a big car with 7 passenger in and still have power to go up and down the hills and mountains of Costa Rica.

Galloper had an strong structure for off-road.

It is very comfortable even in bad roads, the suspension of the Galloper is good so you can be driving in a bad road and you will be very comfortable inside it.

The comments are interesting but there are too many words without saying important things like the extensive use of plasticin in the Galloper when compared to other of its class; so, it will suffer in the 4x4 roads.

I am also from Costa Rica. I bought a almost new Galloper II (27K) from the Mitsubishi in Costa Rica. The car is good for its money: good space for the family and all the gear we need to carry around. We had the one with seven seats so you could even load it with a couple of friends. The engine is pretty good (we had a Turbo Diesel Intercooler), since we could make about 800-900 KM with a full tank of diesel. But you cannot drive it very fast: max 110 KM/h (low power engine output). Beside that we had a minor issue with the back door (which opened when it wanted).

Our real problems started when we took the car to the place we bought it for the 30000 KM check up: (I will make the story short)...we got the car back (after the normal two day service) and the car either did not start, became an oil leak (which they could never fix), the car had first white gas smoke, then black gas smoke coming out of the back of the car, etc. etc. etc.

Final comment: the car is good, slow, very affordable, but the shop does not know how to treat it (although they have a good customer service and stock of parts).

I am in London, England. I purchased 6 Hyundai Galloper 11 from Gudka Auto Ltd in Nairobi, Kenya when the company went into liquidation in 2000. I imported them to London and ever since I have had problems getting them approved for use in United Kingdom.

The problem is to get letter of conformity as the company I bought has gone into liquidation and Hyundai, Kenya says that you did not buy from us and Hyundai, London says we have never imported Gallopers. Please advise me how I can solve this problem.

The other problem is to acquire Right Hand drive head lights to get the vehicle approved.

You assistance in solving these two problems will be highly appreciated.

I live in Greece we have a number of Hyundai Gallopers here it is a great car it does not break down and it is very good at off road. Many Greek like me we use it to tow boats this car can tow up to 3.000 kilos of trailer. Spare parts is not a problem you can use Mitsubishi Pajero spare parts for everything.

Dear Friends

Nice comments on the Galloper. Some say its cheap, but in Greece you need to pay 15.000 euro for a model of 1999!I don't think this is cheap, is it?

Never mind that, does anybody knows the consumption of the 3litre petrol? mpg?

Regards from Greece

Harris.

The problem with the power windows switches is a simple problem that it is easy to fix. You just need to remove the switch and clean the contacts inside the switch. Make sure the ignition switch is off. You can remove the switches without removing the door panel, just by pulling the switch up from it's place.

I had this problem in all the doors of my 1998 LWB 2.5L TDI Galloper.

I live in Costa Rica and bought a used 1999 Galloper II V6 when I moved here in 2005. This car is a gem! I read one comment on-line here from a person who lives here who said the electric windows were a problem. The problem with the electric windows (for me) is due to the extremely fine, abundant dust thrown off our unpaved dirt roads by wind or traffic. All I've needed to do is clean the contacts and I've been good to go.

We couldn't be happier with the car. It has proved to be a real work horse on and off the road.

I live in Costa Rica, bought a 1995 Galloper turbo diesel. I spent about $2000, replacing, belts, brakes, both fuel pumps, engine heaters and my back door would not open. Now no more problems, It is a good car for Costa Rica roads. I an carry 5 people and bags with no problem. I think it gets about 18mpg.
