2005 Hyundai Getz GL 1.1 from Philippines

Summary:

It' s a good buy and a great performer

Faults:

Nothing substantial went wrong, as in nothing.

General Comments:

This car has a fairly acceptable engine power for a 1.1 engine. However, the air conditioning system which is also of Korean brand isn't quite converted in a manner that it has to perform in a tropical country like the Philippines. Air con power is quite weak compared to other brands as that of a Toyota Vios.

Kabayan, get the diesel. You'll love it. And they solved that problem with the aircon.

Kabayan, the aircon is now working superbly. I can say that its already tropicalized... The cooling power is an "A". It just needed to be used frequently to get its full cooling power going.

Thank you.

Summary:

Fantastic little car!

Faults:

Possibly slight wear on the carpets, however I have purchased mats and therefore there is no problem now.

General Comments:

This is my first car, however I have driven a few other vehicles. I get over 40mpg out of the car, which equates to approximately 15km/litre and I do a lot a town driving as well as distance driving. The ride is smooth enough, the seats are comfy and there is lots of rear leg room. Acceleration is very good for a 1.1, get from 0 to 30 in under 6 seconds and then to sixty in about 14 seconds on a flat. I will get 100 mph out of it (150kph approx.). All round a great car, I purchased it for under £GB 6000. It gives a very quiet drive in most situations even at high speeds.

2005 Hyundai Getz 1.1 Li from Philippines

Summary:

Fuel Guzzler!

Faults:

Nothing gone wrong or awry so far.

General Comments:

On a cleanly paved highway, it's a pleasant experience driving a this car. But once you hit a un asphalted concrete road, the car dribbles itself according to the shape of the small road crevices and rough concrete surfaces. The motion created between the tires and the road are transformed into vibrations that one can easily feel inside. This is not a big deal considering it's price. A driver can live with that especially on short distance travel.

With a 1.1Li engine, one expects a good km/liter fuel consumption rate.

This car can only do 11.5++ km/liter on the same route I've been driving my Honda Civic Sir where I'm getting 11.0km/Li consistently.

Maybe that you have only a 1.1L engine that you have to rev its guts out to get any performance out of it hence you are using more fuel.

It sounds like you picked the wrong vehicle if all you were looking for was economy. No joke, but my Dad's 91' Jeep Wagoneer gets better gas mileage than that (11 town, 13 Hwy.) and it weighs 5,700 pounds and has a 5.9 liter V8 engine. If you want economy you should look at a Honda Civic or a Toyota Camry or something, maybe even a hybrid?

2005 Hyundai Getz GSX 1.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent car for the money

Faults:

So far, nothing has gone wrong with the car.

General Comments:

The few comments I have are that it doesn't seem to accelerate very well in 2nd gear, so I try a change up to 3rd as quickly as possible, and you do tend to feel every bump in the road because of the suspension.

Its spacious with plenty of headroom. The boot is surprisingly larger than I expected it to be. The gear changes are very smooth and the dashboard very easy to read. I think the car's external looks are very nice, and its very economical on petrol. It has all the extras you could need, and as long as you don't want to be a Stirling Moss, most drivers would find it a really good drive and excellent value for money.

I recently bought a Hyundai Getz car and after a month of use I am very satisfied with its performance so far. As per my computation, I am getting 15 kilometers to a liter of unleaded gasoline during city driving with air conditioner switched on. I estimate that it can go as high as 17 km/liter highway driving. The car is worth my money. From: Dr. Emmanuel R. de la Fuente, Manila, Philippines.
