2015 Hyundai Santa Fe LX Premium 2.4 from North America

Summary:

Great

Faults:

As it was getting older a few things went wrong with it that Hyundai knew about. I replaced the rear coupler, then the driveshaft, moon roof, I had to use my hands to help it close and finally, the gear shifter was getting stuck in park so I had to go into the shift lock and release it. This vehicle also went through brakes like crazy, 94,000k, 3 complete brake jobs and yes, everything new.

General Comments:

Great vehicle, fit, finish, reliability, great.

Yes, I will definitely buy another Hyundai. Right now, I needed a van, so I bought my 3rd Grand Caravan, what can I say, I missed my van.

Finally an honest review who is actually disclosing the faults.

2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Premium 2.4L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Perfect family car

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Very well screwed together and very quiet. It has a lot of standard features like heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, heated front and rear seats, rear vents for HVAC, nice tinting on the windows with integrated sunshades for the rear seats. Headlamp performance is excellent (projector halogen).

It's very easy to do routine maintenance like changing bulbs, cabin air filter and the engine air filter, etc.

Fuel economy is pretty much the same as my old car, but they are not in the same category or decade, so it's not a fair comparison. Engine is quiet and performs nicely. I have no complaints about engine performance.

I can't believe the high quality Hyundai has today. I'm confident I have chosen the right car for our family.

Original poster here. Update on the car.

I've owned it now for about 15 months now and it now has around 114,000 km.

No issues to report. Just regular maintenance such as oil changes, filter changes, etc.

The car runs well and no complaints. Ride quality is still very nice.

I suggest reading the forums about the 2.4 non turbo engine. Several reports about early engine failure, but also about failure at 60000 miles or more. Very strange, not sure what the reason behind, maybe the thin oil grade (5W-20) or maybe just the engine design. Forums show engine failure despite complete and frequent oil maintenance done from new by the Hyundai dealership. Of course it doesn't mean all the engines will go bad, but there is certainly something with these engines. Fortunately, as long as the owners will religiously preserve all maintenance papers, Hyundai is usually willing to replace the engines for free, even at higher miles.

The car now has over 122,000 km's. I had two recall notices from Hyundai that were addressed. ABS module was replaced at no charge and something to do with the trailer hitch (not applicable for me). The Ford dealer I bought the car from did a recall for me before giving me the car to install some knock sensor in the engine.

No issues with the car itself. The car is running fine. I am aware of the engine issues and sludging issues with GDI engines. I was told to make sure you do the oil changes religiously (every 3 months), use the highways, etc.
