1991 Hyundai Scoupe LS 1.5 from North America

Summary:

Awsome little car!

Faults:

Common things like the brakes and windshield wipers.

Starting to pop the seals in the front window due to the fact of a large stereo.

The rear trunk unlock button does not unlock the trunk anymore.

General Comments:

Great little car. I have had no real problems yet with it.

If you are thinking about adding a big stereo to it, remember to check and tighten all your nuts, bolts, and screws.

Awesome fuel mileage. I fill it up only once a week and I use it all the time. I also hope to purchase a Tiburon in the following year.

1991 Hyundai Scoupe 1.5 from North America

Summary:

More reliable than you think..

Faults:

(LOL) Where to start? Basically everything, but all this didn't happen until after the car reached 152,000 then it went down from there big time. Tranny, CV axles, tie rod ends, engine is starting to knock real bad, A/C has long been dead, now I think the starter is going.

General Comments:

Listen, I've got a few things to say about these cars, they aren't that bad if you take care of them, I mean I really don't think they are built with the quality of Honda or Toyota but they aren,t that bad. They are put together in a cheap manner, the paint isn't that good either but remember these cars are basically economy cars so what can you expect, of course my previous car was a 1989 Geo Metro and it was wonderful, it held up 100 times better than this Hyundai but hey the Granny had to run into the back of me, that's life. Give Hyundai a chance, you might be surprised.

Wow man, you must have had a terrible car. I own a 91 scoupe with 310,000k on it. And not 1 major component has broken, I've only had to replace brake-friction material 3 times over the years and I've upgraded the exauhst to stainless steel. What a great car.

1991 Hyundai Scoupe Base 1.5 from North America

Faults:

Oil leak, tranny leak, transmission scraps gears all by itself, steering is awful.

General Comments:

Well I love the way the car looks but it isn't very mechanically sound if you know what I mean. The car only has about 70,000 miles on it and I'm scared from day to day if its going to crank it. Sounds sick most of the time but Hyundai continue to tell me that it is in good shape so I guess we will see.

I have had my 95 Scoupe since 1996 and the only mechanical problems I have had were the water pump and the power steering pump. I think if you keep the car up it will last longer and have fewer problems. There is one annoying thing though, the driver's side window leaks.
