1993 Hyundai Scoupe MVTi 1.5 turbo petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Wiring loom and turbo both needed replacing before the car was 18 months old! The alarm failed, the HT leads melted twice, mysterious rattles from beneath the bonnet, terrible misfires in damp conditions & it was prone to aquaplaning no matter what tyres were used.

General Comments:

This car and I have long since parted company, it was a love/hate relationship, when it was running OK it was a cracker with phenomenal mid range acceleration and good looks to boot. Alas, it only ran OK 70% of the time, shame really.

1993 Hyundai Scoupe 1.5 from North America

Faults:

Many problems in the beginning with wind noise/water leaks, paint peeling, power steering belt broke, and power trunk button wouldn't work, but after the problems were fixed once, twice or three times, it was basically general maintenance concerns from there on in. (Tires, battery, brakes etc.)

General Comments:

The car was a wonderful little car, sporty looking, cheap on gas, comfortable for the front passengers and I didn't have major problems with it, so I'd probably buy another Hyundai again. One thing that stops me from purchasing another Hyundai was the rude service I received from the dealership. They were pleasant until they had my money, then my car problems were an annoyance to them! One other concern I have is the rapid depreciation of their vehicles. No matter how good condition they are in, you will NEVER make a good sale when selling your used Hyundai! Which is too bad, because mine really was a good car!

1993 Hyundai Scoupe LS Turbo 1.5 liter turbo from North America

Faults:

Poor dash fitment (dealer replaced at no cost).

Poor paint (dealer repainted entire vehicle at no cost).

Squeaky rear suspension (dealer replaced all bushings and shocks at no cost).

General Comments:

Purchased vehicle brand new and am very pleased with the ownership experience. The vehicle did have build quality problems, but they were all cheerfully repaired by the dealer under warranty. They even repainted the whole car several months after the warranty had expired (cost of $3,500 U.S.).

The turbocharged engine had impressive acceleration due to the minimum weight of the car. The car has over 120,000 miles and is still running very strong and is not using oil.
