1999 Hyundai Tiburon from North America

Summary:

For the price and warranty, who could complain?

Faults:

Bumper had to be re-painted twice because the silver paint they switched to had a tendency to chip. That was covered under warranty.

The light in my CD player has burnt out, making it impossible to change tracks while it's night time unless you turn the overhead light on.

Rear brakes had to be replaced before front ones have. I've yet to replace the front brakes at 69,000 miles, but the rear ones were replaced at 50,000.

General Comments:

The car has great initial pick up, but not for very long.

It handles curves exceptionally well.

Since there is no annoying "ding" when you leave your lights on and open the door I've had to re-charge the battery nearly a dozen times.

The backseat doesn't accommodate tall people very well. So make sure to tell them to duck when your closing the back hatch!

1999 Hyundai Tiburon LX 2.0 140hp from North America

Summary:

Quality vehicle for the money

Faults:

The car rattles. The hatch on this car can drive one to insanity with its consistent noise.

The factory tires provided about 20,000 miles of service. Not horrible, but I had expected a bit more.

Windshield wipers continue to loosen from the mount. I believe this to be a cold weather event with the Tiburon.

General Comments:

The car, other than what has been listed above, is a fantastic car. It handles well, engine strength is ample, and overall value is untouched by any car in it's class.

Hyundai dealerships have been like night and day - there is no chance of knowing what type of service you will get from any given dealer.

My experience with the Tiburon has been a great one. If only it were a size larger...

I agree with the comments on the size of the Tiberon. Seduced by the sporty look, when I purchased I somehow missed that it was very cramped. Not a good buy for a tall person - very little headroom. Otherwise a great car.

1999 Hyundai Tiburon SE from North America

Summary:

My 1999 Tiburon SE is a lemon

Faults:

My Tiburon is only two and a half years old. It was bought brand new. I have had many problems with it.

It is automatic, and it has had the transmission replaced twice already. Which means it is on its third one. The car does not even have 40,000km on it yet.

It has also had the front and rear bearings and rotors changed on it. These are just a few of the many problems I have had with my Tiburon.

General Comments:

I am not happy at all with my Tiburon, or the service that I receive at the Hyundai dealership where I bought the car in Nova Scotia, Canada. The only thing nice about this car is the look of it.

I purchased a new 1999 Hyundai Tiburon in November of 1998, and it is currently having its FOURTH transmission installed. Not only has this been a continuous problem but it has had numerous other problems as well. (I.e. solenoids replaced twice, wheel bearings replaced twice...) I am extremely unsatisfied with this vehicle and from seeing other comments on this page, I know I'm not alone. I wouldn't recommend this vehicle to anyone.

I bought a 1999 hyundai tiburon in may of 2005 from a previous owner who had it all the time before I did and there was no problems with this car. I am wondering why these other cars are having so much trouble. Probably factory glitches.

1999 Hyundai Tiburon FX 2.0 140hp from North America

Summary:

You'll love this car!

Faults:

Wheel bearings: Both front wheel bearings were replaced around 40 000kms. Now it appears I have a rear wheel bearing problem at 66 000kms.

Rattle in the rear hatch. Cured the problem myself.

Stereo unit makes noise, especially in cold weather.

General Comments:

I love my Hyundai Tiburon. I really wish my car didn't have these problems as I would love to encourage others to look at Hyundai.

I wish Canadians could have the same warranty as Americans are able to enjoy.

Looks great, and feels great driving it.

I had front wheel bearings replaced at 56K and now the rear wheel bearings are bad at 74K. Too bad the rear bearings went bad AFTER the warranty expired!!

Major rattling in the rear of the car!!

Love my 2000 Tiburon, but it's giving me major headaches!!

1999 Hyundai Tiburon FX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

I'll keep it for a while

Faults:

None whatsoever.

General Comments:

This car was my first new car. It has taken me from Georgia to California and back. I've had no problems with it.

I could use more space sometimes, but I'm not disappointed in this vehicle at all. It handles great. I love it on the interstate. You can't get a better deal in my opinion.

1999 Hyundai Tiburon FX 2.0 from Slovenia

Faults:

Nothing, it's only new.

General Comments:

I had it only for a week, but I love it.

It looks very good, many faces turn around. I don't know why. Is it because it looks so good or because I'm a woman.

I recommend it to everyone who wants a good looking, quick and not expensive car. It is better than Puma or Tigra or Megane coupe.
