2000 Infiniti I30 3.0 from North America

Summary:

The I30 is a dream car, and I hope to find another for a second vehicle

Faults:

Had to replace the starter, air compressor, and left rear brake caliper.

General Comments:

Best car I've ever owned - I picked it up for $1800 from a college student and have been driving it daily every day. Lots of power, comfortable, and everything still works great. I feel blessed to have picked it up so cheap and will drive it until it dies. Hope to get at least 300k miles.

Doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic and change every 5000 miles.

It's got some scratches, but that's fine with me. Drives better than most new cars I've owned.

2000 Infiniti I30 t 3.0 from North America

Summary:

I love this car so much I want to see if I can hit 350K miles!

Faults:

Control arms, tie rods, crank shaft pulley, radiator fan, general maintenance items, A/C compressor, and most recently, my sunroof won't open any more.

It helps to have a very good friend who is able to fix most of the issues that can occur with an older car. Considering the mileage, none of the issues I have had are a surprise.

General Comments:

I love it, and considering the mileage, I think it is amazing that it still drives so well and rides great.

It is a little slow on acceleration, but not a major issue. It is a medium level repair, but isn't a big deal if I don't get it fixed.

If you don't use high octane, the engine makes some noise on acceleration, but the gas mileage is awesome. I love driving this car!

I have a 1997 Maxima and the slow acceleration issue may be a bad knock sensor. If it is bad, it will not set the check engine light.

The engine knocking with low octane is a symptom of a bad sensor.

Good luck with your I30. They are great cars.

P.O.S. - Want luxury, get an Acura / Lexus

Faults:

Everything!

The oxygen sensors kept failing.

Coils went out at 50k!

Well let's see; when I first got the car in 2009 it was the best car I have ever driven, but then in 2010 it was like the A/C started to smell like pee.

Then it started to make this rattling sound when the car took off.

Then it made this sound like there was air escaping a hose in the motor.

The starter and the alternator went out.

It had to be checked several times before they found any particular problem.

Paint is cracking/chipping away on the rear spoiler.

Replaced the high performance tires with snow tires for winter use.

General Comments:

This is a poor quality car!

I spent over $5000 in repairs and it's still a pile of junk! DO NOT BUY!

Out of this world!

General Comments:

Fantastic car, sleek, powerful, comfortable and reliable! Best car I have ever owned. I have had the car for just shy of ten years, and put all 220,000 miles on it myself.

I am writing this because I was just cleaning it up to go trade it in, and don't think I can bring myself to do it!

2000 Infiniti I30 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

Catalytic converter.

2 coils replaced.

AC compressor replaced.

General Comments:

The service engine light coming on is endemic with this car. Just ignore it if everything is running fine, or you will run yourself ragged going from one dealer to the next and never get a straight answer.

The first time the light came on, I was told it was the catalytic converter. I had it replaced at a cost of 800.00. A short time later the light came on again. When I took it back, they said the other one was bad. I did not have it changed, and that was 10,000 miles ago. The car is running fine.

2000 Infiniti I30 from North America

Summary:

Great comfortable, reliable, prestige car

Faults:

The only thing ever wrong was that the oxygen sensors keep failing, so you need to go to the repair facility and get them fixed. However, it is easy for repair places to do.

Avoid the dealers. Crooks. But the repair places are quite good and can do everything that a dealer can at fraction of the cost.

No other problems whatsoever!!

General Comments:

Very reliable and good car. Looks good and doesn't lose its style. Much more reliable than my previous BMW, which was a repair nightmare.

Engine is very strong, and the ride is smooth.

If you want a car that is nice and doesn't give you any troubles, get an Infiniti.
