"Great cat for the money"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

1. Fuel Pump

2. Water pump leaks

3. Climate control button

4. Valve Cover Gaskets

5. New Steering system

6.Lots of little oil leaks.

General comments?

This is a great car, it is well built, and is still rock solid after 14 years. If you are looking at buying an Infiniti Q45, then make sure you have it mechanically checked out before buying. We have replaced, the whole steering unit, the valve cover gaskets, and the button for the climate control, belts, and Fuel pump. A suggestion to all of the owners, have a transmission cooler put in, this makes the transmissions last longer, because the Q45's transmissions are not cooled as well as they should be, this will also cause it to shift smoother. When you get one, you should have the fuel system updated with a new fuel pump, if it hasn't already been replaced. If the fuel pump goes bad, then the pump computer will burn up and cause it to go bad to. The fuel pump costs $300 and the computer costs $500. You should also have a tune up done, makes it run like a champ. This car is fun to drive; really I have the active suspension, which I really don't recommend, because it is not worth the money to fix.

I also have a 1991 Q45a and want to sell it. It's in perfect condition, 10,000 miles. It looks and runs (and smells) brand new! The problem I am having is trying to find out how much it's worth. It was over $45,000 brand new, and I have been on every website I could find (Kelley included) but can't even get the category for 1991 Q45a to come up - all I get is Q45, and at that, the top price is around $7,000, which seems ridiculous for this car. Any ideas? Thanks.

Bad news, dude. First, the "a" in "Q45a" designates an active suspension, which only adds about $250 to the book value of a plain Q45. And that book value, btw, per my copy of Kelly Blue Book, is only $2525 for a private seller sale. Granted, yours is worth more if it only has 10K miles on it--but not $5000 more.

The other factor is that large luxury cars, be them from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus or whomever, depreciate like mad no matter what the condition.

While the Q was a good car, it was (and is) never desirable so there is a limited market.

Where are you located. With that low of miles I would be interested in buying from you. However not for more than $5000 to $5500. I'm in oregon

Hey Guys, I just purchased a 1991 Q45A about a month ago (for no more than $5000) and the suspension on all 4 sides are bad. Other than scrapping the car, do any of you know where I can get new or used suspensions from? I think they also work with an air system too. Please help..

This note is for the person selling the Q45A. If you haven't gotten rid of the car as yet, I can go from around $6 to $6,500.00 if you really want to get rid of the car. If this is an option, please e-mail me with the title (Q45A FOR SALE) at: speedy3_rkd@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Hello I just got a 1991 Q45 it has 139800 on it, now the only thing is the person that had this car had it sitting for about 2 years. The idle goes up and down like it wants to turn off, but when I drive it it's fine, no problems.

Now I was told that I should just give it a tune up or add fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. This is the first time I've seen this car and after driving it I love it :) It has a lot of power and handles well. I want to do a tune up, but I can't seem to find a manual. I was looking at the engine an I was lost, I couldn't find the spark plugs. Can someone help me out with this? I'm just trying to save some money. BTW I got a good deal on the car; that's why I got it with the misfiring.

Also I found that my brake light doesn't work, any ideas? When I turn on my lights they turn on, but when I step on the brake it doesn't work. I checked the fuse box inside and fuse was good, is there any other place I can check? I also checked the brake pedal switch and moved it in and out, but still doesn't work. I'm so lost... but I still love the car and so does the wife...
