1984 Jaguar Vanden Plas 4.2L Inline Six Cylinder from North America

Summary:

A sleek, stylish sports car with personality

Faults:

I had to replace the fuel pump twice.

A tree fell on it, but it was repaired.

The first repaint was horrible.

She idles a little roughly.

She runs a little on the hot side.

There is a short in one of the wires.

There is no one here who works on them.

General Comments:

The frequency of fuel pump repair was related to trash in the tank.

The first paint job was done by a novice claiming to be a professional painter.

She seems to have a mind of her own. She runs only when she wants to, regardless of repairs attempted to her.

The new candy-apple red paint job and body work were performed by someone with great skill. She now shines like a diamond.

When she wants to run, she rides smoother than silk, smoother than any Cadillac I have ever been in.

The retractable moon roof is a real pleasure in warm weather.

She attracts stares everywhere she goes.

The interior is comfortable, until you try to get out.

I absolutely love the body style.

I love them so much, I want to buy and restore another one.

The tree-falling-on-the-car comment was hilarious, although I don't know whether it has to do with the original manufacturing or performance of the car.

I recently purchased an '84 model Vanden Plas yesterday. Gold!!! Of all colors, I had always said that this color was an absolute deal-breaker...

She is pretty low to the ground.. For sure! But I love her already. Mint condition, all original with only 86,000 miles. Picked her up at a public auction yesterday for $2850.00!!!

What a steal! Two cars behind her on the auction block was an '09 XJ 4dr in metallic gunmetal. Well, not sure where you're from.. but in the south, we luv us some Gunmetal... hahaha.

I'm told she's worth 40,000, but I'm keeping her. The fur covers for the back interior are so plush.

What a sweet ride!

I just purchased a 1984 Jaguar Vanden Plas. It is a 4 door, in-line 6 cylinder with dual overhead cams. My VIN begins with SAJAY... I'm trying to find information about my car because I have never loved a vehicle this much!!If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.
