1993 Jeep Cherokee Country from North America - Comments

"Best, most common sense vehicle we've owned!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Had to replace universal joints in front axles, and that's it!

General comments?

- This SUV is driven by my wife & she loves it!

- It gets great mileage!

- Great traction in adverse conditions

- Very quick, great power!

- Since we live in Canada, where we often have 5 months of snow, the four wheel drive is very comforting. Getting stuck is an awful feeling, whether out in the country, or in an icy city parking lot. But, we have no worries with our dependable little Jeep!

I bought a 1993 Cherokee and was wondering if anyone knew the purpose of the little black disco ball looking thing on the headliner. The manual doesn't mention it and the dealer didn't know. Any help would be appreciated...

It's a keyless entry system. Look in the manual. I have to find out how to get a button thing for my keychain now. I bought mine used, too.

Hi, I have a question. I own a Cherokee Sport 1999 4.0L, and the problem is that when I brake, I can hear a thumping sound from the right rear wheel. Does anyone else have the same problem? I think its from the brake-drum, but not sure.

I got a keyless entry remote to my elplorer on ebay, my local dealer had to reprogram it though. In all I cost me about 80 bucks.

To the guy with the 99 Cherokee, the thumping sound is probably b/c the brake clip aka Anti-Rattle clip has fallen off. No big deal for now. I wouldn't drive for more than a few weeks with out it on. Just really really loud. Happens on all cars. You have to really know what your doing in order to get it on correctly or you'll screw it up.

I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee, but not the manual and I would like to know what is the Fuel Tank Capacity?

The fuel capacity on a 93 Cherokee sport is 20.1gal. I have found that I get about 12.5mpg with this vehicle, I guess its good for a SUV.

I have a 1993 jeep cherokee it gets about 17.5 mpg

so your 12.5 is not really good.

Hmmm I got 20 mpg out of my 85 318 ramcharger 4x4 with an automatic. The worse I ever got was 13mpg. Seems to me that the cherokee's little six should get at least 20.

I have a '93 Cherokee, and yeah that keyless entry thing doesn't really work. I have the original key too. I probably broke it though. I didn't know keyless entry was around in 93.

This reviewer said that the Jeep was good on gas? Weird, they are horrible on gas, but run super great for sure. Even the 4 banger is horrible on gas.
