1997 Jeep Cherokee LTD SE review from Uk and Ireland
"A great car made better after lifting the suspension"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
One rear shock absorber began to leak.
One rear leaf spring broke.
Both front universal joints have worn badly.
General comments?
When I first bought this car I was very pleased, but when the rear suspension failed I was most disappointed. Having both the front and the rear replaced with a quality lift kit has more than made up for my disappointment.
There is more than ample room inside for my family and our dog.
I find the diesel engine very smooth to drive and it has ample torque for easy driving around town.
I feel very let down by my local dealer as it is my opinion that they are not interested in servicing and repairing 'older models', but would be very happy to sell me a new model.
The car has done quite a lot of miles now and has worn very well, the seats show very little sign of wear, the engine starts first time every time and the four wheel drive system engages smoothly and operates faultlessly.
I take my car off road and after having the suspension lifted, I have found it to be a far more rewarding experience.
