At 33,000 kilometers My timing chain broke.

Kia Carnival might be a good quality and comfortable car.
However the car should always be maintained for possible break outs in the parts and engine.
I don't believe on what you have commented. Because we have the same model, I am very much contented with my Kia Carnival LS. Of course you have to regularly maintain your car. Any brand, even German brand, if you don't properly use it and don't regularly maintain it, it will definitely goes out of the way. My piece of advice is to use your car with proper care and regular maintenance like you take care of your self.
We too have the same model and we are very interested to know if the person who replied to your comments is still happy with their car! How many times has it broken down since you wrote your comments we wonder? We have had lots and lots of problems with our model and it is now on its third engine, going well, so thinking about getting rid of it while its still going. We love the shape and interior seating which suits us well, but can't risk breakdown and being stranded with small children.
I too have 2000 model of Kia Carnival and I agree to the first comment. You have to maintain your car like other cars. I am satisfied with my Carnival and I am planning to replaced it with 2006 Kia Carnival once it is available in the Philippines.
I agreed with the previous guy. Any car for that matter must be well maintained. I too have the same Carnival 2000 model and it's performing well.
When you see a black smoke at your tail pipe, the usual suspect is the Injection Pump malfunction, the service centers will charge you by the thousands... 10k up, but wait.. there is one good Calibration Center in Abad Santos Avenue, Manila which specializes in Calibration of all kinds of Diesel Engines. He just calibrated my Carnival's Injectors (its like spark plugs of gasoline engines) and the black smoke is TOTALLY GONE. I only spent PHP 3,500 for calibration. The Injection Pump should not be tampered with unless you experience a “Mis-Fire” or “Dragging” which means your injection pump is clogged and is no longer consistent in giving exact amount of diesel to your injector that’s why excess fuel comes out as black smoke. Contact me if you need more info regarding these.

I have unfolding problems with my Kia Carnival LS; heavy black smoke, limited speed/power despite constant calibration of injectors and injection pump. Worst of all, twice the nozzle tip broke. What the heck is with this stuff?
Can someone tell me where could I purchase nozzle tip or injector with a reasonable price?
I hope and pray that favorable attention be given on the matter. Thanks and God Bless to all.
It's not the car, it's how we use it and maintain it.
I have 1 Kia Carnival year 2000, which I purchased from a used car dealer in 2006. And there is NO MORE warranty from KIA Dealers. It is a spacious people mover vehicle.
Until today, NO serious problem with my Carnival. I have really taken a good care of the periodic maintenance, using the original KIA parts i.e. timing belt sets, wheel bearings, using good engine oil (synthetic) etc. No problem getting the parts replacement. The cost… All parts for any kind of MPVs are higher comparing to the saloon cars & 4×4. Furthermore I’ve changed the wheel to 18″ size – better handling, changed to new stereo set with DVD player & maintain the existing speakers. The sound is still fantastic.
To me, whatever the car brand, the qualities are there. It is up to the user to take care of the maintenance.
