2002 Kia Sedona EX from North America

Summary:

Sucks!!!

Faults:

I bought this car new in Sept. 2001. I have had the same problems as most on this site. I had the car in and out of the shop for 5 weeks in spring of 2004 for alternator problems - dealership replaced alternator 4 times before one would charge the battery. Then the dealership leaves the old battery in and leaves me stranded again. Both passenger side sliding door and driver side sliding door rollers and handles have been replaced. The passenger side 2. The air bag light has come on and had to fight with KIA warranty to replace. The air conditioner has gone out on it. I have gone through several calipers and brake pads and there is still a grinding and knocking noise in the front end. Now the worst problem - at 99,000 and a little over the motor has gone out and KIA refuses to replace even though I still have a warranty. They claim I do not have a good maintenance record and then after I fax them the oil change tickets, they claim now that they all do not have the VIN # on tickets so now I am stuck with this piece of junk and it doesn't even run.

General Comments:

This will be the last KIA I ever own. I have numerous problems - way too many to mention. KIA brags about their 100,000 mile warranty, but everytime we have had to have repairs done to the car we have to have an argument to even get things fixed. I also purchased with the car an extended bumper to bumper warranty to 100,000 miles and still KIA refuses to pay for most things that are supposedly warranty work. In my opinion there is actually no warranty at all because they do not honor the warranty. Please do not buy a KIA - save yourself the grief and headache!

Question, what happened to the Bravada??? Was that a better vehicle? My parents want to trade in a Bravada for a Kia Sorento, (Sorento has many positive feedback). Let me know.

2002 Kia Sedona LX from North America

Summary:

A load of crap

Faults:

We have had this van a few years. When we first got the fuel something or other had to replaced. It would not fill up when you put gas in it and then you drove around the block and the gas was gone. That was problem no. 1. Fast forward a few years and we had all the general maintaince etc done on it, guess what? The dealer broke the a/c adjuster in the middle row on the driver's side. They claim they didn't do it. It is now summer no. 2 with no a/c. and now when it rains the alternator belt comes off, we have had problems after problems with the alternator belt. The dealer keeps putting on new ones at no charge, this one is new, but now if it rains I can't drive b/c the alternator belt comes off.

Would I buy again??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Way. I told my husband you just haaaaad to get a forgein car huh? So now nobody who is anybody knows how to put the alternator belt on and we are not going back to the dealer. Did you know that if you go to the dealer with a problem they fix that problem and a month later your back at the dealer again? HMM funny huh??

General Comments:

This car is good on somethings, but not all things. I mean the a/c works in the winter, but not the summer, the dealer fixes something and something else breaks again, eats gas like a drinker drinks alcohol, good for long hauls and comfy for the kids, but other wise. NO I would not buy it again.
