1999 Kia Sephia 1.8 from North America

Summary:

A very reliable car for 10 grand

Faults:

Brakes and both cv boots both around 40,000 miles.

General Comments:

Overall I can't complain about the car. It was my sisters car at first and then my parents gave to me in 12th grade. I've had it ever since. Drove it across the country from Saint Petersburg Fl to San Diego Ca where I'm stationed. Never and any major problems with the car, the only thing I've done is change the oil every 3,000 miles. It does have a slight leak with the coolant, but nothing major. I just have to fill it every 6 months. I'm very satisfied with the car.

1999 Kia Sephia 1.8L from North America

Summary:

Sup-par economy car

Faults:

Starter wore out around 85000 miles.

Battery cables need replacement.

Brake rotors wore down severely.

Dash always rattled.

Airbags did not deploy in a 35mph head-on crash.

Upholstery was worthless and not durable.

Glove box stuck shut (had to pry it open to get my registration for a cop!).

General Comments:

Pretty quick for a four cylinder, could pass safely on the highway if I dropped a gear. Topped out at a little over 120mph.

Excellent mpg, usually just under 40.

Interior is very noisy, although it was pretty roomy.

In freezing temperatures door locks tended to freeze in the open or closed when getting in and out of the car. This made it so I had to either hold the door closed, get out through the window, or wait till it got warm enough.

Summary:

Why did I buy this thing!!!

Faults:

The vehicle was perfectly fine when I first bought it. A few months later though and the alternator broke. After fixing that problem, a newer and more expensive one arose. The transmission is now giving me problems!!!

1999 Kia Sephia LS DOHC from North America

Summary:

It's very Metal \m/

Faults:

Starter sucks, gasket leaks.

Clutch is worm.

General Comments:

It's amazing, I drove from Austin Texas, to San Antonio, which is 68 miles, on 1 gallon of gas. When I'm out of cash, and low on gas, this car gives me more than ample time to straighten things out. Low fuel light will light up, 4 times at least, and finally stay lit when I'm truly running on empty.

Handling's not really all that great, expected though from a front wheel drive. It drifts alright, but I prefer not to push it.

Speed wise, I'd say this car is set for what it has to work with. The first 3 gears are kind of a struggle, but in the long run it hauls ass. I've topped out the speedometer, 135, a challenge no doubt. It felt as if though the car was going to break apart.

Brakes? Horrible. Don't want to talk about them.

I don't know what else to say, overall this car kicks ass. I love it, it's perfect for me. and I plan to either invest in that car, or possibly purchase a newer model.

1999 Kia Sephia from North America

Summary:

I love my Kia

Faults:

All seems to be fine with my 99 Kia Sephia. I did at first had problems with the fuel sensors needing to be replace. That work was done under warranty. I'v had the brakes fixed once and a tune up done once. I just had the transmission fluid changed and my car does have 73,000 miles on it. I have bought new tires, pretty well the norm for any car. I bought the car with 28,000 miles on so I have gone almost 50,000 on it with little problems. But anything mechanical is subject to breakdown.. and of course it is also based on how you drive it and take care of it.

General Comments:

I love my Kia Sephia. It was the top of the line at first. My car is quick and can get out of it's own way. My windows are large and airy and all is working fine. You do have to watch repair men on this car as they will put the car down and charge a arm and a leg for parts and service. Not all places know how to work on this car.
