1976 Land Rover 101 3.5 V8 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Best ever 4x4 by far

Faults:

My current 101 was bought as a non-runner and restored.

A new front wheel cylinder leaked contaminating brake shoes.

General Comments:

Only for the serious enthusiast. The 101 is, in my opinion, the best Land Rover ever made.

Reliable, over engineered, with a drive and ride that brings it way above any other Land Rover of similar age and even some more modern offerings. Able to keep pace with modern traffic as long as you avoid motorways!!

All major components are easy to reach. Standard wearing parts are low cost. The only major expense being the fuel bill.

The best practical classic/utility vehicle. The 8 foot long load bed is brilliant and the interior is easy to clean.

Off road performance will be surprising to many people. Many of these vehicles have been converted to travel trans-Africa.

The only regret many owners have is the noise/rumble from the front prop-shaft and that only just over 2200 vehicles were made.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
