1991 Land Rover Defender Hardtop 2.5 tdi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Almost seventy year old design and still nothing beats it

Faults:

Drowned an alternator when deep wading (my fault).

Heated screens have stopped working, as has rear wash/wipe, but the car is 16 years old...!

Otherwise nothing.

General Comments:

Uncompromising wild-country truck.

Reliable, tough and solid.

Strides through town like John Wayne.

1991 Land Rover Defender 2.5 diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Superb piece of engineering - flawless

Faults:

Nothing, despite hard on and off road use and a trans Sahara crossing.

General Comments:

Unstoppable, built like a tank, totally reliable, massive safety and road presence. Parts the traffic like a lion in long grass.

Hard to drive, lots of body roll, not very comfortable if you are used to road cars. Parts are big and tough so pricey. Noisy. Thirsty, but then it weighs a lot and has no aerodynamics. I am planning to fit a modern turbodiesel.
