1990 Land Rover Discovery TDi 2.5TDi from UK and Ireland

A good all round 4x4 - the best by far!

It had a new head gasket at approx 80,000 miles.

I have put on the following:

A new front propshaft (82.50+vat)

New n/s swivel bearings (60 + vat)

New tyres all round (200 + vat)

It needs a bit of attention every now & then, but it is designed for off roading, rather than living it's life on tarmac!

General Comments:

The ride is comfortable, but not firm.

The engine is powerful, but noisy - improved with extra noise deadening material.

It is designed as a workhorse - but has creature comforts.

1990 Land Rover Discovery Tdi 2.5 Tdi from Austria

Head Gasket (at 90 k).

Stearing Gear worn (at 100 k).

Lay-shaft bearings worn (at 110 k).

Interior trim loose.

General Comments:

Expensive repairs, stupid dealership.

Poor workmanship but great concept.

Fun to drive, spectacular off-road.

Low, low fuel consumption (35 mpg when driving carefully).
