To the comment above: Personally, I would rather buy a good quality car that performs perfectly for normal city driving and travelling, rather than a Nissan that has more sport, but less quality. Admittedly, the Infiniti soars above the majority of makes, domestic and foreign. However, you can't say with a straight face that is is better than a Lexus or Toyota product.

Lexus is not a Toyota, it angers me when people say this. Before my company became successful I drove Toyota. They are great cars, but are nothing compared to Lexus. I had a 1994 Camry V6 which I traded for my first Lexus, a 1996 ES300. The motors are the same, but the Lexus is much more powerful. I bought a 98 LS400 and now a 2005 LS430. I have kept all of them because they are such great cars. Other family members believe their Mercedes are the best even when they have to pay 5grand for a service. I love my Lexus. Drive a Toyota then drive a Lexus you will see the difference then.

No offense, but Lexus is a Toyota, maybe not in performance, but everything else. The outside of the old ES300's looked identical to the Camry's inside and out. Plus, the new Camry's (2006-2007) look like the Lexus IS350 from the back. Lexus really needs to distinguish itself more on the outside from a lower Toyota. I also owned a Lexus ES300 and it was simply okay. However, I now own a 2006 Audi A6 and LOVE it!!!

Just purchased a pre-owned '02' ES300. Previously owned Lexus, Toyota and Mercedes. All are good in their own way, however Lexus may look like the sister car to Toyota buy exterior quality is where it ends! The Lexus is top quality inside and out. Toyota has mush more plastic parts and with time a few squeaks and creeks that Lexus does not have. I agree that the outside of the Lexus should stand out more from Toyota. Until then both are still good quality cars.

(Beware repair cost on the Lexus. Go Certified with the three year / 100,000 mile warranty. They are way too expensive new!)

Lexus is not I repeat not a Toyota. Yes it is made by Toyota, but it is a entirely different vehicle. People say that a Lexus is simply a Toyota, but I wonder how many of them have ever actually owned a Lexus. When you go into the shop to have your Lexus fixed owners wish that if was merely a Toyota.

"When you go into the shop to have your Lexus fixed owners wish that if was merely a Toyota."

Not to burst your bubble, but I drive a 2000 ES 300, and I'm looking to upgrade to a 2002. When I take my car in for service, guess what, I use CAMRY parts, and ONLY. My brother has an LX 470 and he uses Land Cruiser parts, although those are pricey even as Toyota parts. My car is wonderful, luxurious and beautiful, but it is just a VERY luxurious Camry made in Japan, with better quality. When I service my Lexus, I pay Toyota prices, that's the beauty of the Lexus.

I have a Lexus ES300 year 2000 currently. It's smoothness and interior quietness and comfort can't compare with a Camry or Avalon, or the same price range other manufacturer cars (I have tried Infiniti 350, Mercedes e240, BMW 330, Chevrolet Caprice, and Audi A4. All of them are behind or far from Lexus.

And Lexus cars are cheap to maintain when you compare with these cars.

The Lexus ES300 is basically made with the Camry's platform, but you will notice the differences when you open the door.

I have just purchased a used 2005 Lexus ES300 MY. I first test drover an 06 BMW 320 and an A4. As soon as I jumped into the Lexus, there was no doubt; beautiful inside, and a superior drive to any comparable vehicle.

Well, of course you're going to feel the difference when you drive a Toyota and then a Lexus... otherwise there would be no point in Toyota starting the Lexus brand. That doesn't change the fact that a Lexus is a Toyota!
