1999 Lincoln Navigator from North America




The car ran great till approx 100,000 miles.

Both front & back air suspension went out.

The alternator, ball joints & tie rod, and transmission.

I currently have a problem that I thought was the tranny, but seems like a bad cylinder.

Great vehicle, but don't buy one over 100,000 miles or you'll have 100,000 headaches.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

1999 Lincoln Navigator 5.4 V8 32 Valve InTech from North America


Wonderful luxury SUV


- Battery was replaced by dealer before I took delivery of the Navigator.

- Four new tires were put on it also before I took delivery.

- Air ride compressor went out at 169,243 miles. Roughly $430 for the part and then I replaced it myself.

- At 172,854 the air ride wouldn't respond except to vent the system. I suspected the relay was shot and purchased it (roughly $115). Put in on and there was no change, so off to the dealer it went (my mechanics didn't want to touch it) found a broken wire going to the GEM module.

- My Nav also suffers from the flashing odometer.

- The memory mirrors are terrible, they can't recall their position.

- The power lock in the hatch no longer works.

- Like everyone else on here has mentioned, the doors have some rust on them, mine appear to just have it on the surface, no holes in them. Even if they did have holes through them, I really wouldn't care at this point.

- The only other problem is the driver's seat power motor engages but no longer moves forward or reverse, but as I am the only driver of it, the seat doesn't need moved.

General Comments:

Other than the air ride acting up, it's been a great vehicle. I'm the second owner of the vehicle and the original owner took great care of it.

After all the miles that have been racked up on my Nav, the interior is basically flawless and the exterior looks wonderful when detailed.

I purchased the vehicle at wholesale as a winter beater to get through the winter season, as I had started doing a lot more driving for college and for work. The vehicle has never left me stranded, and the four-wheel drive system has been amazing. Mine doesn't have many factory options, but they basically came loaded up with just the standard features.

The interior is quite spacious, as one would expect from a large SUV. I have captain chairs in the second row, while nicer for looks and comfort, they do not fold for more storage room. The third row, while nice for hauling more people (grand total of seven) reduces cargo space to nothing. Taking out the third row is a bit of a chore because of size and weight making it basically impossible to remove with just one person. With the third row removed, the vehicle can only carry four people which is kind of a joke for a large SUV.

There are plenty of places for storing things in the SUV. Glovebox, two center consoles, seat backs, door panel pockets, and side pockets in the lift gate area. Unfortunately, none of the compartments lock.

For the price that I paid for this vehicle, it has been absolutely wonderful for me. I bought a 2002 Bravada at the end of 2008 to replace the Navigator. After having the Bravada for a month, it's going up for sale and I'm going to keep my Nav. I'm hoping to see it cross the 200K mark.

The gas mileage isn't the best, but what do you expect for a full size luxury SUV? Same goes for cost of parts for this vehicle, why would one expect less? You're paying for the Lincoln name, well you have to pay a premium for the parts too.
