2005 Maruti Baleno LXI from India - Comments

"Excellent - Best car in its category"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Surprisingly - Nothing has gone wrong...

Everything works the way it is supposed to work - i.e. BEAUTIFULLY!!

General comments?

Baleno is quiet on the inside, very very quiet.

Road manners are excellent. I recently drove it through 800 kilometres in two days all alone, and that included about 300 kms on hilly tracks.

Multiple plus points - At speeds of 140-160kmph it was simply driving at 3000rpm with lots of reserve power to overtake.

The car was quiet at high speeds with literally no wind howl, and very little road noise (even with the original tyres, I am sure with Higher Aspect ratio tyres, the grip and NVH and braking will improve).

On hilly tracks, I was doing as much as 90 kmph without a missed heartbeat, courtesy of the excellent ride, handling, suspension, brakes, etc. etc. Absolutely impressive.

All through the AC would chill, and I had to mix with hot air, just to keep the windows closed and not have the wind screaming over my ear drums to slow down!!!

The seats are the BEST IN CLASS.. Most comfortable and imagine driving at breakneck speed for 400 kilometres at a stretch in a day - single handedly at high speeds, and through dust storms and torrential rains - and reaching home without aching bones...

AC is best in class.

Road grip is phenomenal...

Average fuel consumption that I got for the 800km trip with more than 250kms on hilly terrain, with two passengers, and luggage and AC used 75% of the time, and driving at break neck speed - 12 kilometres per litre.

I was searching the features to support my decision to buy Baleno VXi. Here I found my last investigation satisfied. Thanks for the support information. It is really exiting. Kumar A.

I've been using a Maruthi Baleno LXi car for last 4 months. I would like to place on record that my selection was excellent. I have driven the car for 4000km on the highway as well as in the city. The performance of the car is excellent, and I can recommend this to anyone who is planning to buy a car in this class. I am getting a 10km /l mileage on an average. I am happy with the performance and also the price I paid.

I had made a survey of all cars in this segment and all others were costing much more. I would recommend Maruthi to increase the ground clearence a little so that it will clear all bumps.

I have been using this car for the past 8-9 months and in my honest opinion the car's performance is good as expected. We were first looking for Accent before going to the Maruti dealer, but we changed our mind and thought that the Baleno is a very good looking car as well. When we went there and had a test drive, we were surprised by its performance. As compared to Accent, Baleno is way ahead and in the mileage as well. It's the car which keeps its promises.

I bought a used baleno 2005 model with 22000km, the mileage I got is 14 average without A. C and 18.5 on highway (without a.c) with speed 60 to 80kmph, that is execelent mileage, except the low body and seats for elders difficult to get in and out all other features are OK.

I am planning to buy Maruthi Baleno. It's the 2003 model. What's the opinion on this? And how is the maintenance for this car? Can any of you tell me?

Hi, I had also purchased Maruti Baleno second hand in Feb 2008, the model was Jan 2005 with 38000 km.

Trust me its simply beautiful. I have drove more than 10000 km. always get an average of 12 kmpl in Delhi and now its running on CNG from last 3000 km. I am very very happy. It's a noiseless great piece of engineering.

I love Baleno. you can contact me on 09350474256.

I bought a used Baleno- LXI- 2005 model. I drive on weekends for about 100km - 80% of which is on Bangalore - Mysore highway... I get an average of 12.6 km/ litre with AC. Though it is a big car, you find it completely at ease while maneuvering...

It is most unfortunate, that Suzuki dropped this model.

Hey, I am planning to buy a used Baleno, mostly likely a 2005 or 2006 model. Can anyone please let me know whether I should go for an LXi or VXi. Will upgrade the wheels to 17", and fit with a sports spoiler, so I think the VXi is not worth it for me. What do you think?

You get good information on carwale.com. Go for individual sellers only (avoid dealers as they cut in huge margins). I bought one recently (Baleno Aug 2005 LXI BSIII done 35k) and am very happy.

I recently bought 2005 Baleno Lxi, and it's a cool car, and the power is good enough on highway, and it can touch 140 easily without any problem, but braking is not upto the mark. Comfortable seating.
