1987 Mazda B2200 LX 2.2 I4 from North America

Summary:

Good

Faults:

No major problems. It shifts very rough.

General Comments:

Had been sitting for 20 years; the owner died 20 years ago and his wife didn't know how to drive a manual. Got it started with starting fluid and jumper cables.

1987 Mazda B2200 from North America

Summary:

Good little truck

Faults:

Not a pretty truck.

General Comments:

When I purchased at auto action for $300.00 U.S. it got very poor gas mileage as well. 16 to 17 in town. I replaced distributer cap, rotor, spark plug wires and spark plugs (they were very lean). Also I changed all the fluids, greased the front bearings in and out. Then a new K/N air filter and now it gets 22mpg and up to 31mpg hwy.

Personally I use Lucas fuel treatment and oil stabilizer.

1987 Mazda B2200 2.2 litre from North America

Summary:

This truck has small problems, but it keeps on ticking and that's what really matters to me

Faults:

The engine has blow-by and seems to push oil out at highway speeds if I go fast for extended periods, best as a city truck, as it dosn't do that when I stay below 100kms hr.

The truck has manual steering, which is good for fuel economy because the engine dosn't have the added work of spinning a power steering pump.

The brakes are a bit soft and I think its going to need new brake pads up front because it just feels like it does.

The box has light rust along the lower quarter panels but was painted white by the previous owners.

Great shape for being 19 years old and is extremely dependable, always gets me where I want to go and being so old it does a better job than newer vehicles.

General Comments:

I have owned an 88 and it was an ext-cab as well.

I prefer the 5 speed, as it can lack power, but a quick downshift cures any lag going uphill.

You really can't find such a dependable truck for as cheap as they sell these for.

I have one with 233,300 miles and it's a perfect truck. It's cheap to buy parts for, easy to work on, and being 22 years old, it still runs smooth and quiet. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

1987 Mazda B2200 2.2 from North America

Summary:

It's a good first car

Faults:

Clutch wore out at 58,000 miles.

Regular Maintainance: air/fuel filter, spark plugs, tires.

General Comments:

This seems to be a very strong reliable source of transportation for me, but I regret driving it around like a race car, whipping it around corners and revving it to high rpm's, as it caused my first wreck and also the clutch to wear out.

1987 Mazda B2200 SE 2.2 4 Cylinder Gas Engine from North America

Summary:

A great truck for the price

Faults:

I bought this truck for $200. When I bought this truck, the previous owner told me that it lacked power and that it smoked, (white smoke), really bad. I took it a mechanic, he changed the spark plugs and changed the oil. He told me that the little 4 cylinder had 6 quarts of oil in it.

He then took it on a test drive. When he got back, he told that he got up to 70 mph. When I took to him, it was only running 25-30 mph. White smokes still comes out of tailpipe. Has a bench seat, with driver side riped. Can any body tell me what could be wrong, before I spend a lot of money.

General Comments:

Still has a factory radio with equalizer.

I am going to use this truck for a low rider.

Not bad for the price.

Very dependable truck.

1987 Mazda B2200 Short Box 2.2 cc from North America

Summary:

Best of breed for its age

Faults:

The engine was rebuilt for unknown reasons at 100000 before I bought it.

The seats are showing wear on the drivers' side.

Dropping speed on hills

General Comments:

This pickup is one of the best cars I've ever seen.

It handles like a passenger car, yet has the capacity of a pickup.

It has plenty of passenger and driver legroom.

Overall, this is a rrreaally nice truck, and I'd buy a Mazda again in a heartbeat.

Well worth the 1500 dollars I paid for it.

It has started to drop speed on hills, but I believe this is a carbueration problem that I can't afford to fix right now.
