1993 Mazda Eunos V-Spec Limited Edition 1.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Fantastic, best car I have owned!

Faults:

The only fault I can report in 3 years of driving is a torn seat cover and this year the car failed the mot on a leaking brake caliper, which was fixed in an hour and then passed the MOT without other problems. Previous 2 years the car passed the MOT without problem.

General Comments:

Excellent little car for a lady to drive.

Goes well, good speed, cruises down the motorway quite happily on trips up to Cheshire from Surrey.

As far as handling goes, back end slides out a bit on slippery or icy roads. Bit disconcerting the first time it did it, but a change of tyres helped.

Removed strengthening bar to put in style bars, this has made a difference to the handling, feels less stiff and I can now throw it round corners better!

Obviously boot rather small, but once you learn to pack it carefully and adjust for the space - not a problem, unless you are off to the airport of course.

1993 Mazda Eunos Roadster 1.6 turbo from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Best car I have ever been in with out a doubt!

Faults:

Water Pump Broke (My fault for adding a G-Reddy Turbo with boost turned up too high).

Driver's electric window.

General Comments:

Very quick car especially after a Turbo conversion.

Best handling car ever! If a faster car overtakes you wait until a corner and you will be back in front, no body roll at all. However this takes away any comfort, but far more fun!

Cabin is very small and you are very low to the ground which adds to the sporty feel, however it is very plastic.

Rear wheel drive is great and sticks to the road. Be careful during the wet!

Turbo pulls at 3,000 revs at is boosting by 4,500 amazing feeling.

I bought a veil-side body kit and people mistake it for a new shape RX-7.

1993 Mazda Eunos 500 2.0 litre six from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A beautiful car aesthetically, smooth, comfortable, which would be sensational with more power

Faults:

Large tear in the rear leather seat.

Power steering squeals constantly.

Brakes squeal constantly.

Petrol fumes noticeable when the air conditioner is used on a hot day.

Halogen lamp in a headlight needs replacing.

Significant paint damage, front bar and bonnet.

General Comments:

The car is drop dead gorgeous, much more beautiful than Mazda+'s current lineup.

The 2.0 litre six is underpowered, especially on hilly terrain.

Nonetheless the engine is rather thirsty, especially when driven hard.

Automatic transmission sometimes confused about selecting when kickdown is initiated on a steep hill or under load; for example, it selects low for a second with a big surge of revs, then drops into second. This is due to lack of torque from the engine.

Handling is competent, but rather soft.

Seats are reasonably comfortable.

Excellent driving position.

Excellent visibility from the car.
