2000 Mazda MPV DX 2.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

Not really satisfied

Faults:

The front suspension had to be replaced at 50 000 km.

The driver's door lock broke: we had to open passenger's door to get into the car and drive. Get it fixed by the dealer, but broke again few months later.

The engine is knocking: not really a problem, but it can become one eventually.

Rust problem: after one year, there was rust around the windows and near the wheels. Also, the brakes and the frame became rusty fast.

We had some brake problems.

The back door needed repairs twice (the part that maintain it up)

General Comments:

I was not really satisfied with this car. It's not really a comfortable car, we had quite an amount of problems, but the design is nice and it handles great.

I would not recommend buying a 2000 or 2001 Mazda MPV: the ones with the 3.0 engine are better and, so far, more reliable. I preferred my old Mercury Villager, which was more comfortable and more reliable.

2000 MPV DX. Accelerator sticks.

2000 Mazda MPV LX 2.5 from North America

Summary:

Best small minivan available

Faults:

Nothing major. Overhead eyeglass storage does not stay shut, even after dealer repair.

General Comments:

The 2.5 engine seems more capable than magazine reviewers give credit for.

I like the size of the vehicle and features Mazda put into the MPV.

We wanted to be able to convert storage space easily. The fold under seat allows this easily. The second row seats are not too heavy for one person to handle.

The gas mileage is as rated, often times better if not driven too aggressively.

We are empty nesters and this minivan is ideal as a utility vehicle. Tried to drive as many as we could before buying. This is my third Mazda. They seem to know how to combine features and value.

2000 Mazda MPV DX 3.2 from North America

Summary:

Love it!

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

We love our MPV! We come from a family of Chrysler minivans (Caravan and Voyagers). They simply do not compare to the quality of the Mazda Minivan.

Lots of power, all the bells and whistles. Very comfortable on long trips. We especially like the stadard dual sliding doors and the hide-away third seat. We would highly recommend this minivan to anyone.

3.2 automatic?

I thought the mpv's were remodeled and that the 2000 came with a 2.5l ford eng.
