Hi, I really enjoyed your review on the S500; it gave me hope. I have read a lot of reviews on Mercedes S420, the ones between 1994 and 1995. I have my eye on one and I think I'm going to buy it. At my age, I'm looking for comfort and a smooth ride with engineering like this big body has. It will be a toy for me to drive on weekend trips and restore as I go. Your review helped me make up my mind. Thanks for your honesty.

What a great review! I appreciate the info about common problems. I recently purchased a 1995 S320 and love it, but 3 months after I got it, I started experiencing the check engine light. After testing it (mass airflow sensor) in which I replaced it and did a "tune-up" (oil, air filter, spark plugs/wires), the car runs like a champ now. Once again thanks for the advice... p.s. my car has 172000 in 2015.

- Windows are doubled and thick. Some W140s have bulletproof glass...

No they don't! Everyone makes that claim; they're just doubled pane glass unless it's a diplomatic car with armor...

Great detailed information on the older model "S CLASS". I've always loved these "BIG BODIED" cars. I will be buying one next year sometime.

I've been reading different articles, taking notes and looking at a lot of videos on the 92-95 S320, S420, S500 and the "THE BEAST" the S600 V12... As far as problems to fix when they arise, is one model easier and less expensive to work on than the others, and which ones in your opinion give the best gas mileage??? From 92-95 are the S CLASS models all the same size, exterior and interior???

Why in the world would Mercedes-Benz put the A/C evaporator in a place in which you have to take the WHOLE dash apart including the steering wheel, and I also think the gear box too???
