1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

Not the right car for anyone!

Faults:

I don't even know where to start... the same things have happened to my car as the previous listing. It started with the trunk not opening with the button. It turns out the spring had to be replaced because it was not powerful enough to lift the weight of the trunk. Next the sunroof broke, like everyone else who has a cougar! I like how Mercury thinks a plastic clip will support a heavy moving roof. My check engine light comes on for no reason. The car has been proven to be in great condition. The coolant light as well, if it's not to the line (or over) the car thinks it is empty sot he light will come on. The started is making a nasty sound 1 out of 3 times it is started. I was told to try checking the flywheel. That's an expensive one though!

General Comments:

Overall, I'm sad to say that I own this car. It costs too much when you think about all of the issues it has. The dealers know about it, how could they not with so many people having the same issues! My previous car may have been old and ugly, but at least it didn't have problems that I end up spending my pay check on!

1999 Mercury Cougar V6 from North America

Summary:

My favorite so far

Faults:

I got my car two months ago. After two weeks my alternator went randomly, and was covered by my warranty.

When I got the car the interior lights had blown and it took forever for the part to come in.

The 6 cd changer in the back doesn't work. I wonder if that's under warranty.

A lot of people said for factory paint it looks really good. Its dark green and still shines. Theres about an inch above the driver's side window where gloss coat is chipped. No one notices except me.

Some of my girl friends have said the back seat is comfortable. Boys don't like them.

Front seats are comfortable. Left side of mine is a little worn from myself, and previous owner from getting in and out.

Builds up a lot of break dust on front rims.

Doors are sometimes hard to open.

Tonight I checked my lights bc the headlights didn't seem as bright. Realized one of my fog lights were out.

Lately the transmission has been slipping. Its going in next week to get checked out.

When I play music. the two boxes on the dash (that display time, and temp/gas ex) blink. May have something to do with the wireing.

General Comments:

I have v6 and its sooooo quick. I'm first out of every light, with barely accelerating.

I miss not having a sun-roof, but scared to have one installed because of problems.

Turning and handling is amazing.

Doesn't shake when going fast speed.

I got a Sable as a temp car and it rode well. I'm very short and used to small cars, but I liked it. I've also driven my aunt's Mariner & Mountaineer and I love them. Mercury has very decent cars.

I got a 1999 cougar v-6 5s for my first car and I love it. I win so many races with it and I don't think ill ever get rid of it. I haven't lost yet actually. I had a few problems with my egr and the driver side window stopped rolling up and down. luckily it was just a fuse. that has been all that's went wrong with mine and I don't understand why people make fun of my car. their just jealous. I got a street scene tail fin and tail light covers for all the losers to watch as I speed away.
