"Could potentially be a lemon"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong with it yet, but I have only had the car for a week.

Everything was already wrong with it when I bought it for $480.

The paint job is suffering badly and makes the car look like junk yard fodder. But that's not important to me.

The gear indicator is off track so in reverse the orange line is hidden and in drive it shows neutral. I don't know how serious this problem is, but the people I bought it from did not act like it was.

The car shifts very hard during accelaration and oftentimes it throws me across the road.

I am no mechanic. I was promised that the car had a good enguine and a good transmition. The car drives okay, but sometimes I doubt the validity of this statement.

The passenger side window is off the track. It will roll up and down, but only about an inch. After that it goes off and will fall down into the door.

The car roars, almost as if the gas petal was stuck down, when started.

The timing appears to be off or something. Sometimes when it idles the car makes loud clunking noises. Sometimes so bad that the whole car shakes and clatters.

One of the speakers is blown and raddels if the stereo is turned up to loudly.

The roof lining is missing and needs to be replaced.

The gas gauge is broken.

The horn is broken.

There is a crack in the wind shield.

General comments?

Overall, I believe I was ripped off.

The car runs okay, for now. I just wonder how long it will run before it dies on me.

It looks horrible. I get funny stares when I drive down the street.

Well, it is an almost 20 year old car. You do expect some things to be wrong with it. Paint it at least. Everything else sounds like normal wear and tear. The orange thing not aligning properly is no big deal. I have had that problem with almost all my cars.

$480 and you feel like you got ripped off? Sorry, but it's very difficult to find a vehicle without any problems for under $3000 (Canadian that is).

I know it feels terrible to have spent the money and then not have whatever you bought not work right, but for $480 you really did get what you paid for.

You have bought the wrong car.

If you do not want to get involved in car mechanics the only option is to buy a new or nearly new car fully ringfenced by a warranty. Sorry.

The symptoms you are describing are why the car is only worth a few hundred dollars.
