Boost from the turbo died due to a $5.00 "O" ring on the boost pipe being worn.
Water hose that preheats the intake burst.
This car kicks! 120 Kw of power (150 HP). $55,000 when new in New Zealand. I paid only $1,800.
This Eterna is the Hard top version of the front wheel drive Sigma GSR Turbo from 1984 to 1988. Hard top meaning no frames around the door windows. There was even a intercooled Eterna offered called the Sirius Dash that was 200 HP.
The car is an unsung hero.
I own a Sigma GSR Turbo, and concur with all comments here.
I would like to add that driven with care it's possible to get 35 mpg.
Why you'd want to drive one of these gently is beyond me however, they're too much fun.
Can anyone celebrate with me regarding the 200hp Sirius Dash 3x2 Super Exceed model? This has an enormous front mounted intercooler and the largest brake discs you have ever seen. These models are very fast even by todays standards. The 12.5 psi boost standard can lead to manifold destruction though. Does anyone understand how the 3x2 head really operates?
I purchased an eterna with the sirius dash intercooled engine and it fully goes hard. I would though like to know what modifications can be made to make it go even harder.
I have a 1985 Mitsubishi Galant-Eterna VR-HT (HT-Hard Top). Its front wheel drive, and it also has the 2L Sirius-DASH inter-cooled turbo engine. Its the had top version (no window frames). I love this car, but the only problem is, I don't have a manual for it, and I can't find ANY information on it. Does anyone know where I could download a manual from??
I have one of these engines I bought for a transplant with factory computer, but need some help if any of you guys can help. I just need someone to eyeball there coil wiring setup can they email me at.

The Sirius Dash is serious fun. I sold mine at 205000km and still going. Have since up-graded to the even more fun XR6-T. Which by the way is 325HP.
I'm glad all you lot seemed to have had a good run with yours. We purchased one of these in 1990 (1985 model) used from Japan for NZ$13,000. Unfortunately, it had been so severely wound back that we had to sell it for $5,000 2 years later due to everything in it blowing up. However, when it was running I absolutely loved it (I learnt to drive in it), particularly the acceleration and the styling over a Sigma. We would probably still have it now if the mileage had been genuine.
I too owned a Mitsubishi Eterna hard-top. It was a 1985 model, 2L intercooled turbo sirius dash 3x2. I purchased it ex-Japan in 1990 for NZ$13,600. It had 37,000km on the odo when I got it. I had it for over 8 years and sold it for NZ$3,000 with 142,000km on the dial. This car was fantastic! It never gave any trouble except for a cracked head. (caused by a faulty thermostat) That turbo engine could really fly. I ran Mobil One 5w50 fully synth and changed it every 5,000km, and just regular servicing. By the time I sold it, all the comps were good (160-175psi) and it was not using any oil and that turbo was still spinning away happily.
A superb car and I miss it a lot.
I Just brought a 1985 sirius dash for $1400!!! A great deal. The power it has kicks to the days. It's a mean as ride.
I own a 84 sigma gsr 2l turbo recently repainted very tidy car and for age and even against a lot of new vehicles now, is a very quick car if any one intersted in buying this vehicle will be on trade me. sparkssurf@yahoo.co.nz
I own a 1984 Mitsubishi Eterna Super Exceed, in the Grey. Has done 155000kms. Very nice car. Only problem I am having with it is that it idles a little rough, and can be hard to start when it is hot. Apparently something to do with the electronic timing and control of the dash head. Great cars though.
