Wow, it sounds like your Mirage is giving you great service.

Back when I was a teenager (a LONG time ago), if you bought a car nearing 100,000 miles, the car would have been considered to be nearing the end of it shelf-life. But nowadays 95,000 miles is nothing. Sounds like your Mirage will easily give you 250,000-300,000 miles.

1998 Mitsubishi Mirage DE Coupe 1.5 Liter from North America

Summary:

Affordable and dependable, but will never turn heads

Faults:

Front were blown at 52k when purchased.

Fan stopped running at around 80k, but my dad fixed it easily. Nothing major at all.. original owner had a piece of paper wedge to make it work so we got it fixed correctly, but cost nothing because it was so minor at a local garage.

All it was basically was a short in the connection to the motor.

1.5 engine is VERY weak, struggles up hills especially with A. C on.

Automatic Transmission is geared low to help climb hills. If you punch on it going up a hill, it gears down quickly then gears back up and will change too often.

Tip: If you are going up a mountain, just keep the car in 3rd gear... did good that way for me.

General Comments:

I have had the car for nearly 60,000 miles.

I started driving it when I was 16 so you can imagine what I put it through.

I bought the car with a dent in the passenger side. Local shop fixed it perfectly.

Put aftermarket chrome wheels on the car, looked great.

Put aftermarket C. D player/speakers in car.

Handling is very tight, I really enjoyed this part of the performance.

Around 75-80k hit a deer, had to get another door put on the car, aftermarket left front fender and have dents taken out of the hood.

Later hit a small dog which cracked the front of the car, but never got that fixed due to value of the car.

Great gas mileage!

When I first got the car and kept everything clean, got lots of compliments which was great with the amount of money I spent (very cheap!)

Overall, despite being a "cheap" car, it has been VERY dependable despite what all I have put the car through. From what I have got out of the car, I would feel comfortable suggesting someone to buy the car at 100k on it.

1998 Mitsubishi Mirage Marion 1.3 petrol from South Africa

Summary:

Best Hatchback car!

Faults:

The electric window of the driver seat, makes a load sound when opening. Before it was working 100%, now it sounds like I have a hammer hitting the interior frame of the door.

When climbing a steep hill, the car seems to heat up.

There is a limit or blind spot when looking between the front window and side window.

General Comments:

The comfort of the car is excellent! Has some advanced technology, especially from other Mitsubishi models and Japanese cars.

Steering/handling is alright, just try not to over do it on corners!

Body kits can be easily modified with Evo-kits :).

1998 Mitsubishi Mirage Mivec VR 1.6 16v from Cyprus

Summary:

A high revving performance car giving lots of fun

Faults:

The only thing I have worries about is the drivers seat is wearing a little bit.

General Comments:

This car is incredible for a 1.6l engine, it may not be that quick under 5200rpm, but when it gets there it goes.

I have got coil-over suspension on mine that blesses the car with so much grip.

The extra carbon fibre inside makes the interior look better.

This comment concerns mainly people in Cyprus.

I notice that the field reserved for dealer service is blank.

Probably the owner of the car did not seek the services of the main dealer. I can honestly say that their service is second to none. Not only the service manager is walking encyclopidia on the subject, but very helpfull indeed.

Try giving him a call on 24 636 177.

1998 Mitsubishi Mirage 4 Door DE 1.5 from North America

Summary:

Could be worth the Investment

Faults:

There's a Vibrating noise coming from the front of the car, it only happens when I hit the gas hard.

General Comments:

The car is easy to deck out, the import parts for it are unlimited.

Its very fuel efficient, while still maintaining power at high speeds. I have got it up to 120MPH with little problem.

Although its very plain looking its cheap and with some invested money and time you can create a car to be proud of.

1998 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5 SOHC from North America

Summary:

A big fun to drive go-kart

Faults:

There is a small rattle coming from the headliner over the passenger side door.

The driver's side window will not close completely. It goes up far enough to keep out the elements, but not the noise.

It had a faulty valve stem when I took it off the lot.

General Comments:

The car handles great, it is easy to seriously exceed the speed limit significantly on curvy roads.

The engine is very quiet and has a decent power band, but needs more torque.

The air conditioning really saps the power from the engine, especially if you have passengers with you.

The factory stereo system is wonderful.

Overall it is very comfortable and extremely fuel efficient. You never feel bad about living with a "cheap" car.

I have a Mirage and it feels weak on the highway trying to keep up with highway speed! I need a better car!
