1990 Nissan 240SX 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Outstanding performance

Faults:

Passenger window does not function.

Fuel Pump went out.

General Comments:

I purchased a 1990 240sx with a 96KA24DE engine from another 240 a few years ago. Previously I owned a 1990 300zx non-turbo which I had problems with so I sold that one and got the 240sx.

I was surprised when I found out how this car handles, hugs the turns quite well! However, the engine bay is pretty damn noisy... but that doesn't bother me much. For a small car the engine is pretty beefy... but a tiny bit slow, it would have been great if the U.S. version had the SR20 engine in it like they do in Japan, but it's easily available here for a swap, or hell... even the RB series engines.

This car has serious potential, they don't make cars like these anymore.

1990 Nissan 240SX SE from North America

Summary:

I love my 240SX SE

Faults:

Owned car for 17 years.

Replaced clutch once.

Replaced throwout bearing once or twice (don't remember).

Replaced brakes, calipers once.

Replaced muffler once.

Front seat broke after 17 years.

General Comments:

Great car as far as performance, looks, and maintenance costs. Corners excellent, though after 17 years, it would be nice to replace the struts.

Please note, this is a 240SX SE, not a standard 240SX, thus the looks are more sporty and I believe it came with the 300ZX suspension package (i.e independent rear wheel suspension, alloy rims, among other things). I'm rating my SE model, and not sure that I would own anything else but the SE model.

I paid a little more for the SE package, but it was so worth it, for the performance and the looks.

NOTE: Please don't look at my Rating score, the website didn't allow me to choose all the drop down options and I don't know what the final score will be. I would give them all 9s or 10s

1990 Nissan 240SX SR20DET from North America

Summary:

If all the problems were fixed, the car would be worth keeping, if not...it's as good as gone!!!

Faults:

IAC is going out on the car. A/C doesn't work. Shocks are worn out. Speakers blown. Steering wheel is crooked. Front seats need to be replaced.

General Comments:

I enjoy the car, but in Florida having no a/c is not an option!! The guy that built the new engine in the car did an awesome job for the most part, but promised certain things he has yet to do, such as the a/c repair, suspension, seat replacements, speakers, iac...etc...everything that is currently wrong with the car was promised to be fixed and still nothing! I have spent 6K with this guy and have had enough of the lolly gagging!!! If anyone can fix these problems for me please post a bulletin and let me know... I am located in the Orlando, FL area.

Thanks :)

1990 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4 SHOC from North America

A quick little import that lasts forever

Faults:

Fuel pump.

Valve cover gasket.

Paint.

Clutch.

New transmission.

A lot of tires.

General Comments:

My dad bought this car new in 1990, and it still runs great, starts every time. I love it!

The 2.4 is a little under powered, but it's still fun to drive. The car handles really good.

1990 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Engine of a champ

Faults:

Master cylinder wrecked when the car had 230000 kms on it. No big deal... Other than that just basic maintenance-- brakes, oil, muffler etc.

General Comments:

SOLID CAR and very fun to drive I loved every kilometer of it. The best car I ever owned. It was amazing looking (black with black leather interior) for the time and it drove like a dream.

1990 Nissan 240SX from North America

Summary:

Quick and responsive handling

Faults:

Tranny rear seal needed to be replaced not too long ago.

Fuel pump died around 4-6 months ago.

Currently the motor is burning a bit of oil.

General Comments:

When I 1st drove my newly aquired 240 home, I couldnt believe its handling... very responsive! other cars can't match its handling. Also making U-turns is EASY, the you turn radius on this car is fantastic!!! this car has a high potential with just a few mods.
