1990 Nissan 240SX SE 2.4L 4 cylinder gasoline from North America

Summary:

Enveloping

Faults:

Before I purchased the car:

Master cylinder replaced.

Things I have replaced:

Core temp. sensor.

Starter.

Front brake rotors and pads.

Front tension rods.

Battery.

Fuel line between fuel filter and steel line (cheap fix, new piece of neoprene line and hose clamps)

Electric antenna.

General Comments:

This car is great for a teenager. Excellent handling and reliability with a bulletproof motor.

Though there is a slight amount of vibration between the crankshaft and the rods, it will be sometime before it becomes a significant problem.

Though I must say that it does take some tender care driving this car in the snow and rain. It can come around on you quite quickly if there is wheel spin.

My catalytic converter is beginning to rattle and will need to be replaced one day, but that $600 repair can wait until my next emissions date.

Once I complete a few more general repairs I do hope to add some aftermarket parts. If anyone has a suggestion for a nice exhaust system please email me at nclax904@yahoo.com

This car has ran great for me. I strongly suggest Mobil 1 every 3000 and premium gas on every fill-up as the car does call for a minimum of 91 octane. Spending a little now will save you a lot in the long run.

I love my car and hope to keep it going strong.

Great Car if you treat it right! I have had my 90' 240 since brand new. That's right, 200,220 miles later on the same engine and tranny. Some minor repairs, like Master Cyl, Starter (last month!) A/C and a couple of fuel lines. As for after market, new TC Rods, Springs, Struts and bushings all around make the car as smooth as mile one! You can find great replacement parts on EBAY! Found the sport 7 spoke rims and tires for $100 to replace the old plastic covered steel rims! Also, I take it to the dealer, that's right, the dealer every 15000 and 30000 miles for the factory scheduled maintenance plan... you need proof... how about 200,000 miles and still smooth!!

1990 Nissan 240SX SX 4 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Dependable low-maintenance dream

Faults:

The alternator died at about 190000 miles. The seats are showing wear and the dash has a crack in it.

General Comments:

This is my second 240SX. I traded a '93 in for a 1998 Dodge Intrepid that blew it's engine at 78000 miles. These 240s are the most dependable car you can own. At 193000 miles I still drive this car 2 hours to the beach with no worry of it braking down. I still get 27 miles to the gallon and the car is basically maintenance free.

Just an update on the 240. Had a small leak in the radiator hose. Replaced all hose for a 20 bucks. The car now has 213000 miles on it. I also replaced two fuel injectors for around $200. The car just won't die. I would like to purchase a truck, but have told myself that I will buy it when the 240 finally goes. Who knows when that will be.

Car now has 229000 miles on it. It still blows ice cold air. I had to put a new radiator on because I cracked the top flange replacing the hoses. I also replaced the tie rod ends for about $50. I still drive to the beach without even thinking about it.

1990 Nissan 240SX XE 2.4 from North America

Summary:

A must for high school kids

Faults:

I had a major problem with my brakes. I had to replace the front ones and then replace the rear ones every five months.

Brakes are bad for a Nissan.

General Comments:

I got a lot of looks when I first bought the car like everyone has never seen one before.

My car handled great. The interior design was the best I had seen for a 1990 model car period.

The Nissan 240SX fastback was a great race car and good for drifting.
