Digital gas gauge.
I love my Z. I have not had any trouble with it except for the digital gas gauge. But I do love it. Really has the get up and go.
Hi!
What a coincidence, I have the same problem with my 1984 300 ZX; the fuel gauge on my digital dash does not work. Other than that, great car.
I've only had the car for a couple of weeks, so I don't really have any comments about the car.
Hi, I also have the same problem with my ZX...Weird!!
Same problem with my 300ZX, but I have also lost the temperature indicator, amp and so forth. This is even after replacing the dash panel once.
Digital Gas Gauge problem for me also. The digital trip odometer goes out sometimes as well. Other than that no problems.
If there is no light on the dash the problem is with the power supply which is under the drivers right knee.
Hi! I love my 84 zx. just bought it last month. I'm having small problems with my digital dash, too. The compass will only go to two positions. And the distance to empty area sometimes goes black for a day or two at a time. If any one wants to discuss zx's with me my email is findmefahq@hotmail.com.
Same problem with fuel light
any solutions?
I Don't HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY 1984 300ZX.it's a GREAT CAR.
Hi, I just bought a 1984 300ZX and the problem is the same digital gauge does not work. does anybody know how to fix it. also the digital odometer works and sometimes it doesn't. does anybody know where to get anew or used dash for it this one has cracks.
Thanks.
Julio.
I have the same digital dash problems with my 1984 300ZX and in addition, the radio works only intermittently even after a costly repair. I am considering purchasing a used 1991 300ZX, but can't seem to find much on the net about its reliability. May 13, 2003 Write danielmailatrogers.com
and thanks.
I just recently bought my 1984 300ZX, but the digital dash does not work. I think it may be a power supply problem. Is this correct?

I have a 1984 300zx too. 5-speed (non-turbo) I bought it new from its original owner and have now had it for about 10 years. The digital dash has always been a problem. As a previous poster pointed out, it is the power supply/computer unit under the right knee which is the problem. You can remove it and solder each point (there are over 200) and it may work again. Mine did, but only after I put in one that I pulled from a junkyard. The only other problem I have is a 'quacking' sound which comes from the right rear wheel. The wheels also tilt inward. / I have noticed that most all 300zx's of this year do the same. I am in the process of restoring it. It is drivable, but needs a little cosmetic work. Is there a place on this site where we can post pics or our babies?
Z Lover Too,
Tonnie.

Good luck.
I also have a 300ZX, actually I have 2. And in regards to a previous entry, both of them the right rear wheel tilts inward from the top. Is it just the suspension or an alignment problem. Also, one is an '84 and the other an '87.
I am a 1987 Nissan 300ZX owner. I love the car. I had bought the car after it had been stored over 10 years. the car is in overall good mechanical condition after I had given it a good tune-up. one of my biggest problems are my gauges. the RPM gauge sometimes works. and the radio does not always work. I am halfway done with restoration.
