One tough 25 year old truck that just keeps going.

Manual 5 speed transmission and locking hubs are the envy of my friends.

Paint job of 10 years ago still looks new.

1988 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2.4i from North America

Summary:

Durable, strong and tough! Best truck every made!

Faults:

The pipe after the catalytic converter, all the way to the end, has to be replaced.

All the fluids, filters, car stereo because of the humidity in Europe. Replaced battery and tires.

General Comments:

This truck has quite a history. My father bought this truck in 1989 (I was 5 years old), transported overseas to Portugal, stayed there over 17 years, and now back to Canada. This truck was abandoned in a closed garage over 17 years! When I went to Portugal to check it out, I felt like I was back in 1989. Brand brand new. Barely any rust on it, except for rims and the muffler. I had to replace the oils, spark plugs and battery (because it was not used over all these years and the place was very humid), put new gas in. I turned the key and “BAM!” It started in first try and worked perfectly. I was absolutely shocked. My father's friends said "huh? Impossible."

This truck is awesome. After 22 years, it runs like new. Some people there wanted to take it apart. Screw them! I absolutely love this truck! Now I am shopping for a new car and I feel depressed. They are all cheap, weak, small and crap.

1988 Nissan Hardbody Pickup King Cab 2.4 liter Z24 from North America

Summary:

Perfect

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I have a 1988 Nissan Hardbody King Cab, 4x4 with the 2.4 legendary z24 engine, this is by far the most reliable truck on the face of the earth.

This truck had 224,000 miles on it when I bought it, and has not shuddered yet.

I drove this from Idaho to Texas, and it ran like a champ the whole way. 4x4 works great and the z24 still has a lot of get up and go. Never left me walking, I have trusted this truck with my life and would any day of the week.

My buddy has a 1990 Toyota 4x4 and what a death trap, I'm scared to ride to Walmart in that damn thing. What a joke, for all you people who THINK Toyota is the best, open your eyes, the Nissan is coming, long live the Hardbody.

I just got an 1988 Nissan truck. It has the 2.4L 4 cylinder. I was wondering if your truck had the stock fuel injectors in it? I am having problems with mine running correctly. If you are willing to talk to me about it since you have knowledge about older Nissan trucks, I would really appreciate it.

My Email is demon91@hotmail.com, so you can get in contact with me if you are willing to help me out.
