1990 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2.4 liter 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

This truck perform under stress!

Faults:

My exhaust has been a nightmare (replaced everything behind the cat. twice) and countless rehanging.

Emergency Brake didn't work when I bought it, was replaced, froze and stopped working again after three months.

Won't stay in alignment, always pulls (but I don't know the truck wreck history).

General Comments:

I love my truck, it was a great value and am glad I didn't buy another small car. It performs!

I bought this truck off a individual, not a dealer, so much of it's history is a mystery to me. It already had a 3" body lift on it, and I wouldn't have bought it if it sat as low as a stock model. Larger tires are a must with the lift, so I have kept 2.35-75-15 tires on with no difficulty.

Living in an area that has a tendency to flood, this light truck has performed through mud, water at and above the hood line, and other extreme weather. 4x4 (with manual locking hubs) always engages, and grabs well.

I drive it hard, and at least 75 miles per day. It's not as good on gas as I would expect from another 4 cylinder, but it's been through a lot, so I can't complain too much.

I perform normal maintenance (oil changes, brakes, fluids, etc.) myself and the only real problems I've encountered have been exhaust related (that may be because of the conditions I drive it under too).

The body is rotting, and there's no way to match paint even if you fill the holes.

I would recommend the truck to anyone.

1990 Nissan Hardbody Pickup Base 2.4L SOHC FI from North America

Summary:

My Nissan pick-up was the greatest all around vehicle I have ever owned!

Faults:

Clutch and tranmission went out at around 80k.

Starter at 96K.

All 4 brakes at 92K.

Body Rust.

Parking Brake cable broke.

General Comments:

This truck was a family vehicle purchased by my father in I believe 1995. It was used for odds and ends things around our house as well as errand running. In the past year and a half I used it as a work vehicle to deliver lawn mowers and other power equipment for my work. Often I pulled a trailer with it. It even pulled a 12x6 trailer like a trooper. Never any signs of giving up. I grew up with it and learned to work on it. It was an incredible vehicle in every aspect aside from the typical corrosion associated with older import vehicles. The bed was rusting away on it quickly. It was just sold 2-3 months ago and replaced with a '99 fully loaded Frontier. I miss it and would take it over the Frontier any day. The Frontier doesn't possess half the quality of the Hardbody.

1990 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2x4 2.4L 4-Cylinder from North America

Summary:

Great, inexpensive truck that runs forever

Faults:

Clutch went out at 65,000 miles.

Replaced Fan belt at 70,000 miles.

Replaced shocks twice in 40,000 miles.

Exterior paint peels and flakes off.

General Comments:

This was my second vehicle and I couldn't have asked for better.

Decent gas mileage (24MPG) and minimal mechanical problems with the truck made it a very inexpensive vehicle to own.

The standard cab is very small and not meant for a tall person.

The addition of wider alloy wheels and tires greatly enhances appearance.

It's not the fastest truck around, but it has enough power to get around.

Bad primer caused the paint to flake off the tailgate, roof, and the hood of the truck.

1990 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2.4 4 Cylinder from North America

Summary:

A true fast car for the money

Faults:

My clutch burned up pretty fast when I first got it.

Also when I first bought it the fuel pump was totally plugged, but that's because it sat without being drove for at least 2 years.

General Comments:

This is one of the best trucks around.

Who ever says little trucks aren't fast are full of it.

And this is to whoever wrote that "out it in 3rd when your at 35 it will get you to 50 fast" is full of it too.

My truck goes to 40 in 1st and then 55 in 2nd and then 75-80 in 3rd with out any performance parts except for a racing clutch and new Japaneese made fuel pump.

This is for any racing enthusiasts... I smoked a 2002 Toyota Celica easily and it had an intake and exhaust and headers... and I am not lying about that!
