After 2 years of ownership, the only problem that has occurred with the car is with its alignment. The car seems to go out of alignment while sitting still.
This Sentra is an excellent compromise between a sports car and a family sedan. Its 180 ft/lbs of torque make for a smooth pulling car that is quick in real world situations. While the gas mileage is relatively low compared to an equivalent Honda or Toyota, the bountiful options you get for the price are outstanding. My car came equipped with color matching red/black mesh sport seats, premium sound package, sunroof, side airbags, ABS and of course all of the power windows, locks etc. found on most new cars.
Ride quality is something that is lost in the compromise. However that's what comes with the turf of owning an econo-sports sedan.
Contrary to what I've read on the Internet, my car built early in 2002 has had no defects, no real flaws, and none of the problems other owners have faced. If asked " would you buy this car again " I would vibrantly say yes. This car is the best bang for my buck as well as yours.
Just you wait, you'll have problems, and Nissan lies. My car was built early in 2002 also, and I have had so many problems. Like the intake screws falling out and damaging my cylinder walls, causing it to burn oil. When I talked to Nissan they said that there were no known recalls or problems with that motor, but yet in a Nissan performance magazine they stated that it was a well documented problem with the QR25DE motors.
