Faults:

Windscreen wiper/washer switch failed during a wet journey.

General Comments:

Well engineered and well built.

Sporty performance.

Smooth, but noisy (air cooled) engine being unusually advanced for an economy car with five-bearing crank and overhead camshaft.

Handling excellent, but the rear end does break away in extreme circumstances as with most rear-engine cars.

Much better design than the similar concept (air cooled rear engine, backbone chassis, German made) VW Beetle.

Excellent all-round visibility with wrap-round front and rear screens.

Good gearchange for such a remote linkage.

I also had an NSU 1200TT, which is the same car with a 1200cc twin carb. engine. A real Mini 1275GT eater!

They now make Audi cars !
