1993 Oldsmobile Achieva S V6 3.3 from North America

Summary:

A good get around car

Faults:

I had to put one set of brake pads when I bought it.

I also put a thermostat on about 104,000 miles.

I put a harmonic balancer on when I first bought the car.

General Comments:

The car handles like a sports car, and plenty of leg room. I think my Achieva is very roomy, and I would not trade it for anything!

1993 Oldsmobile Achieva S Quad 4 OHC from North America

Summary:

Old Reliable

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong with this car is the alternator. I'm on my 4th. But, since nothing else has gone wrong with this car in 155,000 miles, I think this is a small price to pay.

General Comments:

I bought this car as a college student, and only now (10 years later) am I considering shedding it for a new vehicle.

This car is like the little engine that could. It just keeps running. I've trashed the outside and inside of the car, and the engine won't quit. It's very hard for me to give this car up.

If you're looking for a lot of get up and go, this is not the car for you. But if you're looking for reliability, this is the ticket. I'm getting rid of the car long before it runs out of miles.

1993 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX 2.3 Quad 4 DOHC from North America

Summary:

A cheap performance/luxury car

Faults:

The car has electrical problems. Most of them are due to cut wires from the previous owner's stereo.

General Comments:

The car is very responsive.

The car takes off when you need it too and with the ABS it will stop on a dime.

The engine pushes 190 HP out of 2.3 liters, this makes for enough power while retaining good gas mileage.

The interior is quite comfortable.

Your SCX Achieva does not have 190hp. It has 185hp. Model year 92 was the only year to receive the 190hp W41 motor. As of 93 Olds dropped the HP to 185. But it's no big deal just thought I should let you know. I'm glad to see that someone else enjoys an Achieva.

1993 Oldsmobile Achieva S Automatic from North America

Summary:

This car is like a tank, run it harder than people run trucks and it still keeps moving

Faults:

I needed a new alternator.

Need to tighten the steering belt, it began to get a lot of slack. Hard to turn in small areas at slow speeds in the cold weather.

Radiator hose busted, continued to run the car for 20 miles. All antifreeze ran out of system. Overheated the car engine off the charts on the interior gauge. Smoke and steam pouring out of engine. So I changed the oil, refilled the antifreeze system with a new hose too. Car still runs great. Little bit of white sludge in oil.

Hit a deer that dented the left front fender and ripped off the driver side mirror. Didn't affect car much at all.

The car gets stuck at certain RPM sometimes now, not sure of problem.

Transmission between gears is a little rough when it switches gears.

Car's front end shakes a little at speeds of 61 MPH or more.

Muffler has a hole in it.

Glove compartment broken.

General Comments:

I absolutely love my car.

It handles well around turns.

The cabin is very comfortable and is very spacious.

It is not exactly the best looking car, but with the right color and options it can start to look like a sporty, more expensive car.

I take good care of my car, but still run the living crap out of it, and it keeps on moving.

Great beginner car.

Small problems here and there, but easily and cheaply fixed.

Great gas mileage. I run my car hard and still get 25-35 miles per gallon.

I hope my car lives forever!
